Our English word for “hyper” is derived from the Greek word “huper”.
There are those today who describe a Christian as being “hyper spiritual” or “hyper charismatic “, in an unflattering manner.
Really, these folks are ignorant of one of the most significant attributes of God. He is a hyper or a huper God, bestowing all good things upon humanity in excessive, abundant, exceeding, limitless, transcendental ways, in proportion to our faith and obedience in Him.
The Greek preposition for hyper is huper. The Strong’s translates it as “over; beyond; above, transcendental, exceeding, boundless, limitless and excessive, above normal; literally hitting a home run beyond the fence.”
It is no mystery that huper or hyper was a favorite preposition to Paul. He knew that it was a critical quality about Christ Jesus.
Thus we need to be careful that we use the term “hyper” in an equitable and theologically precise manner.
To be “hyper charismatic” is not a bad thing if the believer is using the gifts of God in a transcendental, measureless, and exceedingly powerful fashion, rightly by the Spirit of God.
To be “hyper spiritual” is good thing if the believer is transcendentally and excessively manifesting God’s Spirit, power and the glory.
We need to speak as “rightly dividing” the word of truth.
Look now at some following scriptures which describe the qualities of our magnificent and glorious “hyper” God.
The default position of a believer is to be a hyper Christian, hyper spiritual and hyper charismatic by the voice of the Holy Spirit.
