Revival! Northeast!

John 9:4b “Night is coming, when no one can work”

For America, revival is no longer the option; it’s the requirement, and her only hope. America has entered a night without a moral compass. The compass was lost, when she stopped valuing God. Now, no one can work to bring America out of the night, except God. The key is revival, where God sovereignly works.

In 2007, Mary and I had a prospering ministry In East Africa, named Safari through the Word.

We lived in Kenya and ministered throughout the nation hosting Bible conferences.

We visited Uganda and Tanzania, and were courting invitations to minister in other countries.

In the midst of this God spoke to us; “I need you more in America than in Africa.”

At the end of 2007 we relocated to Miami, Florida.

Since then, we have been assistant pastors at Doral Vineyard.

The religious decline of America commenced in the 60’s when prayer and the Bible were removed from public schools.

Directly proportional to America’s rejection of God has been the loss of its moral compass.  Today, the USA is a ship agonizing on the waves of uncertainty, tossed to and fro by the whims of amorality and secularism.

The church has longed for revival for many years.

Today revival is no longer the option, it is the requirement, and America is ripe for it.

If the USA does not experience a spiritual awakening, I cannot imagine what she will become.

During trips to New York City to visit our daughter Lexy, God spoke about a coming revival to the Northeast.

We got connected with Pastors David and Sue Kim of Silver Springs Vineyard Church of Nyack, New York, forty-five minutes from Manhattan.

David and Sue have the same passion for revival in the northeast.

In March of this year we did four weeks of revival meetings at Silver Springs. Without advertisement except Face Book and word of mouth, they were filling up with folks not just from Nyack, but the Bronx, Brooklyn and New Jersey.

We saw a sovereign move of God.

During that trip we met with Pastor Greg Manalli, of Fellowship of Life Church, in Cheshire, Connecticut.

He has prayed for revival in the northeast for more than thirty years.

Pastor Greg showed us three paintings of a vision which he got in 1980’s,

In it the bellows of God blew revival winds into the New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts area with a great resultant harvest of souls.

The northeast is uniquely situated for a move of God which can touch millions at one time.  There is no other region like it. Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, and Washington DC, are all along the 1 -95 corridor and just hours from each other. Breaking revival in one area will quickly spread through this corridor.

Next year in March, we will move to Nyack from Miami to continue with this work of revival, as God shifts things into high gear.

To Subdue The Seemingly Unsubduable

Inside the Person of Christ are deposited and hidden of all of God’s blessings, riches, and treasures that benefit us today and forever.

Col 2:2  That their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

 Ephesians 3:8  Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

Look with me at two of the many riches that are hidden inside of Christ

Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Greek (paraphrase): To Him who has power to perform in a way that is abundantly above and beyond all that we ask of Him, or think with our minds.

He can only do this however, according to, or limited to, or the “fencing in”, of the dunamis power that operates effectively within us.

1 Cor 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Greek paraphrase  “Christ; God’s dunamis power.”

Upon inspection of 1 Cor. 1:24, we find out that God’s dunamis power is not something that we ask God for!  Neither does it say that Christ gives to us God’s dunamis power.  This verse tells us that Christ HIMSELF IS God’s dunamis power.

This is why I always refer to what Watchman Nee taught the church at beginning of the 20th century, and of which it still has not gotten a hold of!

Brother Nee says that God does not give to us bunch of blessings.  He gave us one thing, His Son.

Hebrews 1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

All that God is, and has for us, lives IN or INSIDE His Son.  God has given us His Son to dwell within us, as a treasure chest of all that He is, all of His possessions, and blessings.

The devil deceives the church by enticing it to ask God for a variety of blessings, when it should be asking the Lord for a spirit of wisdom and revelation.

This is so that Christ, God’s treasure chest, is revealed within each believer, along with all God’s bounties dwelling within Him.

Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

·Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God works within us a way which is abundantly above and beyond what we wish.  However, God’s activity is “limited to” or “fenced in by” the dunamis power that is manifested through our lives. This very power is what gives to God the ability to work effectively.

1 Cor 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

In Corinthians, we see that this “dunamis power” is Christ Himself. Therefore, the quantity and quality of Christ’s revelation within us is the boundary or limit to which God is allowed to operate within us abundantly and beyond all that we ask or think.

Ephesians 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

All spiritual blessings occur in Christ (let’s say in the sphere or world belonging to His revelation).

The more is His revelation within us, the more that that the totality of God’s spiritual blessings already inside of Him, will become an experienced reality to us.

Col 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Fullness, in New Testament terms, is the substance or makeup of an object that defines it to be what it is. The fullness of Coca Cola, is the fluid within the glass bottle that has all the ingredients, and formula, that labels it exclusively, and independently, of anything else in this world, as Coca Cola.

Inside the Person of Christ is deposited the very being, substance, and makeup of Almighty God which defines Him exclusively as God Almighty.

This Christ, which contains the fullness of Almighty God, has been given to us.

This is why in verse ten we find out that IN Christ, we are already and forever more complete.  Our experiential completion is equal to the manifested fullness of God as it is revealed in us. Once again, we must remember that the immense treasure of God’s fullness as experienced by us, is limited to, or fenced in by to the manifestation of Christ within our lives, who is also the power of God to effectively bring forth God’s fullness into our lives.

Do we need anything more than this?

How are these treasures revealed to us?

I Cor 1:23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

I Cor 2:2  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

In both instances above, Christ crucified is in the Greek perfect tense.

The Greek perfect tense is defined, as a once and for all accomplished event with an eternal impact. Therefore, though Christ was crucified 2000 years ago, the effect of His crucifixion is as powerful for us today, as it was 20 centuries ago.  Because Christ is God’s treasure chest, the effects of His crucifixion dwell permanently inside Him.

This very Christ, still crucified today, has been given to us as another of the treasures that lives within Him.

Why does God give to us “the treasure of Christ as permanently crucified” to dwell within us? This is what I term as the “law of crucifixion” or “the law of the cross”.  A law tells us that under a specific set of circumstances, specific results will always occur.

·With our every individual act of obedience towards God, “the law of crucifixion” (which is the permanently crucified Christ) kicks in, resulting into what is described in the next two verses out of 2 Corinthians chapter four.

2 Cor 4:10  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11  For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

The revelation of Christ, and the treasures within Him, becomes a progressive reality inside of us by obedience to God.  Every act of obedience towards God activates the law of the cross that reveals the treasure of “Christ crucified”, which destroys our self-life and manifests Christ and His treasures.

How do we become free?

2 Cor 13:3  Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

2 Cor 13:3 tells us that The Christ which has been given to live within us, is always mighty and powerful in ability.  His might and ability becomes a reality in proportion to His revelation.

4  For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

The Greek further tells us in verse four, that in the same way that a tree lives from its roots as it obtains nutrients found in the soil, we must live our lives rooted in the power of God, as it is released in proportion to the revelation of Christ.

Philip 3:21  Who shall change our lowly body, that it may be fashioned like his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself.

Another vital treasure dwelling within Christ, and one, which we will refer to in the rest of this study, is “the Christ whom subdues all things to Himself.”

To subdue, is a military term comparable to a general with an army in perfect submission, hierarchy, and order, beneath him.

One of the most important desires of Christ is to subdue all that is not of Him in this military and hierarchal order. The verses immediately below, all use the very same Greek word found for the subduing in Philippians 3:21; thus showing a vital part of the mind of God towards us in the finished work of Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:27  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

1 Corinthians 15:28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Ephesians 1:22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Eph 6:10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power (dominion) of his might (inner strength).

Christ ability to subdue is an absolute necessity for us, since it is the work of Christ to set us free.  Subduing however, can also have a very negative connotation.

Dictators, such as Hitler, Castro, and others, focused their whole lives on the subduing of people. Christ, likewise, focuses much of His work in subduing, but only of things that are evil and harmful to humanity.

In the case of evil dictators, the subduing of peoples is called dominating, or exercising dominion over them. This evil exercise of dominion accomplishes a power as it is carried out, called the power of dominion or domination, in proportion to the strength of the dictator.

In Eph 6:10 we find this exact principle at work.  Translated for us it commands us to be empowered in the Lord and in the domination or dominion exerted by His strength.

This dominion or domination is what gives the Lord the ability to subdue all things unto Himself.

Are we beginning to get the picture?  The revelation of Christ within us, triggered by the law of the cross through our obedience, reveals the Christ who dominates.

Eph 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened(dominion) with might (dunamis power) by his Spirit in the inner man;

·Greek: That God’s power deposited into your inner man through the Holy Spirit will be seen or translated as Christ’s dominion within you.

The results of this subduing or dominion whisks us right into verse seventeen.

17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

To dwell, is defined as an inhabitant being in comfortable control of his home, thus allowing him to live in the peace and authority which has been purchased through that control.

Christ desires to dwell in this very fashion within our hearts.  He can only do so in believers that fully obey Him, allowing “the Christ that dominates and subdues all evil” to set them free, so that He may dwell and exercise the full authority of the kingdom, through them.

Eph 1:19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty( inward strength) power,(outward dominion)

Greek paraphrase. The exceeding greatness of this power is funneled into those who continuously believe.  The inward strength of God, which is displayed as His outward dominion, is translated as the exceeding greatness of His power, which is funneled into the believer. This funneling is limited to the continual believing of the Christian, which in turn is defined as the uncompromising moment-by-moment obedience to God’s rhema word, or voice of the Spirit.

20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

He wrought : This is very powerful!

The Greek perfect tense is used with this verb.  As we know, the Greek perfect tense is an accomplished event in history, having an eternal impact.

Which He wrought, can be defined, as the working through, or the accomplishing of something with absolute effectiveness, resulting in its becoming fully operational.

The exceeding greatness of God’s power; the translation of the dominion of the strength found within God, is fully and eternally operational inside the Person of His Son!  This very Christ lives within us, beloved!

The effective and full operation of this dominating or subduing power can be proved in that Christ sat down at the right hand of the Father after His resurrection.  One who sits down can only do so after conquering all; it is the position of rest.

This is why we always see Christ sitting down in the parables of His kingdom and glory.  His sitting down is the result of His absolute victories, thus allowing for the release of His glory through the works of the kingdom

Matthew 8:11  And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:28  And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matthew 26:64  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Eph 1:21   Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Herein is another aspect of God’s dominion fully operational within Christ, in that He was raised FAR IN DISTANCE above all that is opposed to Him.

22  And put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

The full and effective operation of the exceeding greatness of God’s power inside of Christ, is not only witnessed that in all things to Christ.

He rose far above them in physical distance, but they are now likewise subdued in a military fashion under His feet.

Finally and most important, THIS VERY CHRIST which has the full operation of the exceeding greatness of God’s power resident within Him, has been given to live within us!

23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Greek: Fills all things in all people.

To fill all things in all people, is the fullness of Christ’s revelation, which reveals the Christ who has the full operation of God’s dominating power, which sets us free!

Golden Nuggets From the Desk of Jose Alvarez

Mark 5:34  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole  (perfect); go (imperative) in peace, and be whole (imperative) of thy plague.

There are two imperatives in this verse, describing a command. When Jesus says that we are healed, then He commands us to walk into and maintain the healing. It’s not automatic. He commands us to conduct our life in the shalom peace commensurate with the healing that we have received in the certainty of its wholeness, healthiness or soundness. It’s no wonder that for many of us, I included, find it hard to walk into the reality of what Jesus says we now have. I had not realized that Jesus commands us, because the responsibility is ours.

Mark 5:36  As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not (me) afraid (imperative), only believe (imperative).

Two imperatives, or commands. “me” in the Greek is defined as a negative.  Jesus commands us to cut the process of fearing something, at once, and enter into a state of  habitual believing. The imperatives, put the responsibility on us, in conjunction with the grace of God. It’s not automatic.

The devil’s lies are to make the church complacent and passive and believe that God by His grace will cause faith and an absence of fear to ooze out of us.

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith (present imperative) in God.

The present imperative is a command to the church. We must live in a habitual attitude of faith of God. It does not automatically happen. The responsibility is ours.
Many things in the kingdom are a combination of the grace of God working in conjunction with our active free will to choose to step out and obey God.
The devil’s attack is to rob the church of free will and make it a complacent and passive victim engulfed in the paralysis of a deceiving demon of fear.

Mr 3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude <4128> from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

The unchurched in Jesus day followed after Him. And it’s no different today. People are not against God, but against religion.

When Jesus tells you to do something which goes beyond our regular services, you will find the same unchurched multitude which followed Jesus, still here, still waiting and still following Him.

They have never left!

You always find God doing a work of revival or outpouring, in every corner of the USA.

When you step out, He pours out.

I propose that our stepping out then must equal our prayer for revival.

Mr 3:8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude <4128>, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

Lu 6:17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude <4128> of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

Lu 23:27 And there followed him a great company <4128> of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

Joh 5:3 In these lay a great multitude <4128> of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

The cross is the only surgical instrument available to God to remove the cancerous and sinful self-life from us and reveal the Christ who bears all of God’s treasures, and when lifted up through us, draws all men unto Himself.

The “law of the cross” of Christ dwells in Christ Himself. Every time we obey the voice of the Spirit of God it will automatically activate the cross into our lives.

Every act of obedience to the Lord entails sacrifice, a walk of faith and a humbling ourselves before the mighty hand of God. This is the law of the cross being triggered.

With every step of obedience to the voice of God, the cross continually frees us from the diseased self-life through the action of this very law residing in the voice of the Spirit.

As I have said, the law of the cross to execute continuous death of the self-life and manifest the Person of Christ in you resides in the Person of Christ Himself.

This is why we must understand and love the cross.

The church has effectively stopped teaching on the cross, and has gone from much fruit bearing, to little.

If the church is to be really relevant it must effectively teach on the cross again.

The critical things in any leader are moral integrity of character according to God, and the deeds which this leader executes.

Peoples, nations, cultures and civilizations have risen or fallen in the public’s recognition or lack thereof of these things in their leaders. When a nation stops paying attention to God, who is the author of right morality, it will stop valuing morality in itself and its leaders. It will focus instead on the leaders charm, whit or looks. If the leader is bad, the nation will groan under his or her bad leadership. This is the price that results in rejecting or putting little value on the guidance of God.  Hopefully, as the people pine and groan under the oppression of bad leadership it will once again cry out to God.

We are always asking God for things. God in turn wants to reveal His Son to us who CONTAINS ALL THINGS!
And His Son is only revealed through our embracing of His cross.

1Tim 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt( thoroughly corrupted) minds, and destitute (defrauded) of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness (esteeming as the law or the custom of the land that material acquisition brings godliness): from such withdraw thyself.

Men who are thoroughly corrupt have defrauded themselves of the truth.

If you are corrupt, you will defraud yourself from the truth. That’s a promise. Watch out!

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; ( Greek: Suppress or tightly cover the truth.)

“Doctrines of men” activate the methods of error, and suppresses the righteousness of God.

God’s righteousness is the visible manifestation of His glorious deeds upon the earth. If we teach, or are taught what is wrong, the activity of the Spirit of God is restricted or suppressed in proportion to the error.

There has been no time, since I have been in this country, that there has been a more concerted attack to suppress  truth through habitual lies grounded in corruption.

This must be countered by the manifestation of truth, in all of its forms.

The devil’s clear resolution against America goes back to Ephesians.

Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Greek translation: By the “spiritual dice playing” of men in which they work around you with the goal of implementing the methodology of error.

Col 3:10 And have put on the new (Neos) man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

A man or woman of God who is being filled with the Spirit is characterized by ever increasing youthfulness.

Though the body will gets old due to aging, which are the effects of sin, the disposition, outlook, psychology and spirituality of the one who follows Christ, is progressive freshness, child-likeness, youngness, and newness.

The definition of the “neos anthropos”, or the new man, which is Christ Jesus in you, is one new in relationship to age. Such is a baby, an adolescent or a teen. The new man is “the adolescent or teen age man.”

If our religion is stuffy or churchy or boring we must ask God if we are fully renewing the “neos anthropos” within us. The adolescent or teen lives out of the box, and is fresh, unique, inquisitive, adventurous, and creative. He lives by faith out on the limb of life, and so does the “neos anthropos” inside of you.

Sometimes when ask for God’s mercy, I think that we ask God to continue to wink at the sin that we are habitually doing, and continue to bless us. That’s not true love or mercy. The real definition of mercy is that God loves us too much to leave us in the place where the sin is hurting us. God’s mercy is to bring circumstances and situations that will set us free. These can be painful dealings.

Proselytize :

“To induce someone to convert to one’s faith or to recruit someone to join one’s party, institution, or cause.” Merriam Webster Dictionary

Do you realize that almost everybody in the world is constantly proselytizing each other? Everybody is trying to convert everybody else to their belief about a service or a product or an idea. Do you realize how many daily try to recruit you to a cause, an ideal or philosophy, or a business? Yet it’s all fine until it comes to God, especially the Christian God. I wonder why?

On top of that everybody has a religion. Everybody worships something, even if its themselves, and its all fine.  Yet, there is a problem with the Christian religion? I wonder why?

The Best Way To Reduce The Gross National Debt Is

The price of sin is in the trillions of dollars. Most of the USA budget is consumed to cater to sin and to its effects.  Most of our gross national debt has been caused by sin and its consequence.

By far, the best way to reduce America’s gross debt is to reduce sin. Most of our debt is used to handle the effects of sin. To reduce sin, we must integrate ourselves back to God, not to separate ourselves from Him. He is the only one who can remove sin. Under the “red herring” propaganda of separation of church and state, we are effectively committing suicide, inviting the expansion of sin, and leaving an inheritance of financial poverty to our children.

How does God get rid of sin?

The cross is the only surgical instrument available to God to remove sin and the cancerous and sinful self-life which generates sin and reveal the Christ in us who carries all of God’s treasures, and when lifted up through us, draws all men unto Himself.

Why is the work of the cross indispensable to our walk with the Lord though it is indeed so painful and lengthy of a process?

What is the death to self as described in scriptures?

Rom 6:1 To what conclusion, then, shall we come? Are we to persist in sinning in order that the grace extended to us may be the greater?

2  No, indeed; how shall we who have died to sin, live in it any longer?

3 And do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

The believer experiences a gradual but actual spiritual death.  There is an annihilation or extinction of the sinful or pain laden self.

The believer progresses and gradually loses sight of the “I” in him or her.

The “I” or “me” finally dies out, and or literally is extinguished. The self- life diminishes, loses it life, its energy and will power.  It becomes less recognizable to the believer and loses its power to exert itself, to be independent, to be able to overcome by its own strength, and exert its will.

The self as it becomes extinguished, is swallowed up in the immense river of the Lord’s resurrection life.

Gal 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

The I becomes purely the Person of Christ.

Philippians 3: 10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11  If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

The believers’ ability to choose as he or she wants becomes weaker and less perceptible. The many deaths to selfish reputation, fame, timing, expectations and so forth, which God takes it through, cause the death of the self-life.  It is a gradual process, which takes years.

Most Christians will never experience these deep stages of “death to self.”

They will remain in bondage.

Most believers do not have the intimacy in prayer and the knowledge of the Lord to understand the process.  Yet, God is looking for them.

Most believers do not have the heart to obey the Lord at all costs, and allow the cross the Christ that comes through implicit and an exacting obedience to do its work of killing off this cancerous self-life. God would want everybody to have that heart, though.

Most believers do not understand the process of absolute yielding, total surrendering, and suffering quietly under the will of God as He does this work in our lives.

Most believers cannot fathom the concept of yielding total control of money, career, ministry, future plans etc. to the will of another, mainly God.

One of the deep lessons of the cross is that God has a set of ideas, notions, plans and desires many times different to ours.  It is difficult to go through the process of laying down all of these things. Yet, this is a requirement of you would be greatly used of the Lord.

The cross is the only surgical instrument available to God to remove the cancerous and sinful self-life from us and reveal the Christ in us who carries all of God’s treasures, and when lifted up through us, draws all men unto Himself.

The “law of the cross” of Christ dwells in Christ Himself.  This means that every time we obey the voice of the Spirit of God it will automatically activate the cross into our lives.  Every act of obedience to the Lord entails sacrifice, a walk of faith and a humbling ourselves before the might hand of God.   This is the law of the cross being activated.

With every step of obedience to the voice of God, the cross continually frees us from the diseased self-life through the operation of its very law residing in the voice of the Spirit.

By this, Christ is automatically manifested through the believer in Christ,

As I have said, the law of the cross to execute continuous death on the self-life and manifest the Person of Christ in you resides in the Person of Christ Himself.

This is why we must understand and love the cross.

The church has effectively stopped teaching on the cross, and has gone from much fruit bearing to little, because of this.

If the church is to be really relevant it must effectively teach on the cross once again.

1Co 1:23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Why is the death to self so necessary in the eyes of God?

In the self-life dwells absolutely no good.  It is diseased through and through.

Ro 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

We try to perfume, exalt and beautify the self when it only has one worthy function left to it.  God has condemned it to die.  Only through the complete death of self can we be free from the corruption of sin.

The price of sin is in the trillions of dollars. Most of the USA budget is consumed to cater to sin and to its effects.

By far, the best way to reduce America’s gross debt is to reduce sin. Most of our debt is used to handle the effects of sin. To reduce sin, we must integrate ourselves back to God, not to separate ourselves from Him. He is the only one who can remove sin. Under the “red herring” propaganda of separation of church and state, we are effectively committing suicide, inviting the expansion of sin, and leaving an inheritance of financial poverty to our children

Ro 6:7  For he that is dead is freed from sin. {freed: Gr. justified}

2Co 1:9  But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: {sentence: or, answer}

The sinful self-life causes us to live through our mental reasoning instead of a walk of faith.  This severely limits how far God can take us in the vision and calling which He has for our lives.  God is transcendental.

For us to live a transcendental life, the self-life must be extinguished, so that we can enter into the immensity of God’s mindset.

Unless the self-life is killed be the cross, we will be unable to clearly hear the voice of God.  This is because the noise of our hurts, our bondage to sin, and our being led by our emotions will drown out the still small voice of the Lord.

Only as the self-life is destroyed is our souls quieted in freedom and the voice of the Spirit becomes clearer and clearer.

We will love the world instead of loving the Lord, we will exert our control instead of being led by the Spirit, and will remain in our selfishness instead of being the servant of all.

What are some properties of this self-life?

Rom 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

The body of sin, which is representative of the self, is an actual spiritual psychological body made up totally and wholly through and through of sin.

Until this self, this” I,” this body of sin, is totally put to death by the cross, we will have the ability, the bondage and inclination, and propensity to sin.

1Co 15:56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Any church programs or agendas, or personal plans, done by us through the means of what appears right and good, noble and charitable, or of a productive nature, but not having been initiated by the Lord’s voice falls under the category of “the law.”

The power or strength of sin is the law.  Anything performed outside the direct initiative of the Holy Spirit will give power and place to the law of sin.  Our best schemes and plans outside the leading of the Holy Spirit only exalt the self-life instead of putting it to death by the cross. The exaltation of the self-life encompasses the body of sin, and the law of sin.  No wonder why so many of our churches lie in disarray.  Few of them operate solely by the voice of the Spirit.

The self, or body of sin, is a possessor of the law of sin.  In other words, the law of sin dwells within the self-life.  A law is defined as something that under a set of specific conditions will always produce specific results.  Hence Newton’s law of gravity states that what is thrown up into the air must always come down to the ground.

The law of sin states that we, left to ourselves, without having the cross of Christ to deal a mortal blow to the self-life, can, and only will produce sin and will always be in bondage to sin.  This is why in no way can we ever expect a person that has not accepted the Lord into to produce or bear anything but sin!  The law of sin is always active and ready to produce continual patterns sin according to its very law.

Roman 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? {the

Paul gives a perfect description of the self-life.  He calls it the body of this death.  In the days of Paul one of the most horrible types of punishments inflicted on criminals was the following.  A corpse was bound and tied to the body of the condemned fellow.  The villain was forced to live out his existence with this corpse rotting, and decaying, bound, and on top of him. This is called “the body of this death” and describes the depths and utter sickness of our sinful self-life, which keeps us in bondage at every point.

1Co 15:54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

As the self-life is destroyed, we pass on more and more into the very life of God Himself.  Death is swallowed up into the victory of the infinity, the freedom, the faith, the immensity, the wisdom, the river of life, and the will of the Lord who resides within us.

No longer are we caught at every turn in our being offended by our brothers and sisters, our being bound by sin and hurt our control of the pulpit instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead, and so forth.

One Of the Most Important Truths I Can Count On Five Fingers

And Preached Christ Unto Them

Acts 8:5  Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

Acts 9:20  And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

I used to be troubled by scriptures such as these.  I could not figure out why and how, Phillip could preach a person instead of preaching about things?

Christianity was all about my relationship with Christ, and how He could impart eternal life, and innumerable amounts of benefits and blessings to me, and to a dying world.  How can you preach a person, I’d ask?

It was not until the Lord brought me in contact with the teachings of the great Chinese apostle Watchman Nee, did I began to understand why Phillip and others in the New Testament preached a person named Jesus Christ instead of things.

By the way, for anyone who wants to learn how to walk in the Spirit, may I suggest the writings of Watchman Nee. You can find his materials in many places on the web.

Christianity has little to do with blessings, miracles, or what we can get out of God.

By themselves these things are not wrong!  As a matter of fact, the Lord commands us to ask of Him for what we need.

However, if your Christianity goes only as far as having a give and take relationship with the Lord, where the focus is to get your prayers answered, or get things from God, you will be miss out on most of what God has for you.   You will be eating spiritual ground beef instead of the filet mignon and lobster that God has.

Today, I want to teach you what is one of the five most important truths for humanity.

Most believers, and most churches, never understand this truth, though the New Testament is obvious in presenting it.  Hence, through ignorance, the great weakness, the inability to overcome sin, the powerlessness over the lies of Satan, and the helplessness to be freed from the love of the world, continues to plague Christians to the ends of the earth.

Christianity has little to with our obtaining of blessings, miracles, or answered requests.

CHRISTIANITY COMPLETELY HINGES UPON AND HAS ALL TO DO WITH THE REVELATION OF THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST, OR THE FAILURE THEREOF.  OUR PERSONAL SUCCESS, AND THE SUCCESS OF OUR CHURCHES AS BELIEVERS, IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO HOW MUCH THE PERSON OF CHRIST IS REVEALED!

Satan has successfully deceived the church, to divert it from understanding and valuing the supreme importance of the revelation of the Son of God in its midst.  The fault is mainly ours!  Our obedience to God is shallow, compromised, and limited; our knowledge of the Word of God is very poor at best.

Secondly, we have been deceived to allow the second most important truth in Christianity to slip right through our hands!

THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT TRUTH IS THAT THE UNDERSTANDING OF, AND THE EMBRACING OF THE CROSS-OF CHRIST, IS GOD’S ONE AND ONLY MEANS TO REVEAL THE PERSON OF CHRIST!

Do you understand the cross of Christ?

Christ is God’s Treasure Chest

Col 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Ephesians 3:8  Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

If Christ is God’s treasure chest He must contain treasures INSIDE OF HIM, correct?

What kind of treasures can we expect to find inside of Him or “In Him”, as the Apostle Paul says?

Colossians 1:20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto( INTO) himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

God the Father will reconcile and harmonize the universe into Christ, at His appointed time.

Reconciliation is the tripate word, “apokatallaso”. That is, to restore something thoroughly to the condition that it was in. Christ’s work allows humanity and the universe to be restored the condition that it had before sin came and marred everything. So restoration comes by a Person and not blessings.

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all  spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Every last and tiniest “God given” blessing, which God, the Father, desires to give to the church, resides inside or In Christ,

Col 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

The fullness of the Trinity dwells inside the Person of Christ

Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

Inside of Christ reside all accomplished victories, and hence all bestowed authority over the demonic, earthly, and angelic hierarchy of leadership.

Christ has that same authority over “every name that is named”.  These include the name of sicknesses, circumstances, and so forth, for all eternity.

So where does this “Christ laden with treasures inside of Him” live?  He lives inside of us. We not only possess Christ, but we possess all the immense and invaluable treasures, inside of us too.

This is the one thing devil is absolutely terrified of, and he does a good job keep the church’s’ attention diverted from this.

 How Does the Church Function?

Suppose that you and your family go on vacation to a beautiful secluded island in the Caribbean.

One morning, meandering through the ivory color sands, rusty corner of barely protruding object grabs you attention.  You uncover a tarnished treasure chest hidden by English pirates.

When you break open the chest you find it loaded and overflowing with pounds of gold and silver bars, precious gems, brilliant stones, huge diamonds, superb rubies, exquisite rings, brooches, and more.

Let me ask you?

Is it more logical to have you and your sons close and secure the chest, grab it by the handles and wheel it so that you can forever enjoy it and use it as you have need?  That is one alternative!

However, you chose to sit for hours under the scorching sun of cloudless Caribbean skies, and laboriously search through the chest for items of jewelry that your family needs.

You dig and pull out jewelry, breaking your nails and cutting your hands.

Finally quit the process totally exhausted.  In a deep frustration and an awful consumption of time, your family finds the fifteen or twenty pieces that they need.  You leave the treasure chest in the sand, nearly full with hundreds pieces of jewelry now discarded around it, book a passage on a local sea plane, and go home.

Would you agree that this family acted it in total ignorance and stupidity!  Yet this is a perfect description of the church, and its relationship to its understanding of the Lord Jesus.

It Is Not “Where is The Beef”, But “Where Is The Treasure?”

Inside the Person of Christ dwells or is hidden all of who God is, all of what God wants, and wants to give to the church, and all that God possesses for this world and for the next.

Here is the secret.

When Christ is revealed or manifested in us, all the treasures within or inside of Him will be manifested along with Him.

The more revelation of the Son of God in you, the more will be the revelation of all that dwells IN HIM.  It is an automatic reality.

The secret to the manifestation or revelation of the Son of God in us has to do with our unremitting obedience to Him.

The more that we obey God’s voice by His Holy Spirit, the more that Jesus Christ who dwells in our spirits will become revealed or manifested

The less that we obey God; the less will be the manifestation of the Son of God in our lives.  It is that simple!  It’s all proportional

John 14:21  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Remember; God has not given to us things!  God has given us a Person, His Son!  All the things that you need are inside of Him. This is a very important point!

We are always asking God for things.  God in turn wants to reveal His Son to us who CONTAINS ALL THINGS!

And His Son is only revealed through our embracing of His cross.

Heb 1:1  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

God has spoken to us not in many blessings or miracles, but in only one thing, His Son.

CHRIST IS GOD’S POWER!

1Co 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

When we ask God to give us His power, in reality we are asking amiss.  Instead, God He has given us His Son!  Jesus is THE POWER of God.  Therefore when He is revealed in our lives, God’s power is revealed with Him, in Him, or alongside with Him.  The more that Christ is revealed in our lives, the more that we will automatically operate in the power of God.  We don’t need power; we need the Son of God to become a reality to us and the power will be ours!

1 Cor 1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made (or Has become) unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

This is because God has made or allowed Christ to become all things that we need.  This is huge!  Whatever you need, Christ has become. The more that Christ is revealed in you, the more that the thing which He has become is revealed alongside with Him in you.

Col 3:11  Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

God has made Christ to be all and to dwell in all. It’s not about asking God for things, but in asking God to reveal Christ in you. He is already all. He has already been made into all and has become all and is all.

CHRIST IS GOD’S SPIRITUAL GIFTS, CALLINGS, AND MINISTRIES

1 Cor 1:5  That in every thing ye are enriched by (By or In Him) him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

1Co 1:6  Even as the testimony (the revelation) of Christ was confirmed in you:

1Co 1:7  So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming (The revelation) of our Lord Jesus Christ

The Greek grammatical structure is interchangeable here.

We are made rich in spiritual gifts.  Two of the gifts mentioned in this passage could be utterance gifts, which include tongues, their interpretation, and the gift of prophecy. The other is the gift of the word of knowledge, which God uses extensively in healing.

Verse six goes on to tell us that the enrichment or increase of these spiritual gifts is directly proportional to the revelation of Christ.

Verse seven tells is that if the revelation of the Lord is complete in our life, you will lack in no spiritual gift. The more that Christ is revealed in our lives, the more that we will automatically flow in spiritual gifts.

The gifts are IN HIM.  As Christ is revealed, the gifts IN HIM will be automatically revealed along with Him. Christ has been made or has become these gifts. God has not spoken to us in things, but in His Son. Everything that God has, dwells in Christ Jesus, and Christ Jesus has been made into all things, and all things that you need.

Re 19:10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony (The revelation) of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy

Observe that Jesus does not give us prophecies per se, though he does.

Jesus IS THE Spirit of Prophecy!  The more that Jesus is manifested in our lives, the more that we will automatically. Let’s look at one final one. He gives the prophecy, but has also been Made into the Prophecy.

Christ is God’s Righteousness, God’s Redemption, and God’s Sanctification.

1Co 1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Christ has been made into righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.  Christ does not dispense these blessings!  He Himself is the blessings!  If we ask God to make us righteous, are prayers will be only half answered.  If we ask God to sanctify us, we have missed God’s best.

God’s righteousness has to do with the manifested or outward qualities of God that originate from His inward holy character.

Ro 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Christ is or has been made the end or completion of the 643 laws of Moses. The more that He is revealed the more that the completion of all that God wants to perfect you into is revealed.

Sanctification is the progression of our being purified by the Spirit of God.

Redemption is the process of our being rescued from the power of Satan, bondage, sin, and the love of the world.

Christ does not produce these things in us as separate blessings.  He has been made into these attributes.  As Christ becomes revealed within our lives, God’s righteousness becomes more and more of a reality in us.  It is automatic!  As Christ becomes more discernible in us, we a find ourselves more and more free from sin, bondage and the schemes of the enemy.

Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The law of the Spirit of Life that sets you free lives INSIDE of CHRIST. He has been mane into this law. The more that he is revealed in you, the more free you automatically become.

God Uses An Atheist As A Prophet To The Church

1Sa 17:24 And when they saw the man, all the men of Israel ran from him, and

1Sa 17:26 And David spoke to the men who were standing with him, saying, What shall be done to the man who strikes this Philistine, and turns aside reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should reproach the armies of the living God?

1Sa 17:34 And David said to Saul, Your servant has been one shepherding among sheep for his father. And the lion came, and the bear, and took away a sheep out of the flock.

1Sa 17:35 And I went out after him and struck him, and delivered out of his mouth. And he rose against me, and I took hold of his beard and struck him, and killed him.

1Sa 17:36 Your servant has struck both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, for he has reproached the armies of the living God.

1Sa 17:37 And David said, Jehovah, who has delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He shall deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and Jehovah be with you.

1Sa 17:44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.

1Sa 17:45 And David said to the Philistine, You are coming to me with sword, and with spear, and with javelin. But I am coming to you in the name of Jehovah of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, which you have reproached.

1Sa 17:46 This day Jehovah shall shut you up into my hand, and I shall strike you, and take off your head from you and give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the heavens and to the living things of the earth this day. And all the earth shall know that there is a God for Israel.

1Sa 17:47 And all this company shall know that Jehovah does not save by sword and by spear, but that the battle belongs to Jehovah, and He has given you into our hand.

1Sa 17:48 And it happened, when the Philistine rising up and going and drawing near to meet David, David hurried and ran toward the ranks to meet the Philistine.

1Sa 17:49 And David put his hand into the pouch and took a stone from there. And he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

1Sa 17:50 And David was stronger than the Philistine with the sling and with the stone. And he struck the Philistine and caused him to die. And there was no sword in David’s hand.

1Sa 17:51 And David ran and stood by the Philistine, and took his sword; and he drew it out of its sheath and caused him to die. And he cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their warrior was dead, and they fled.

A sign of God’s leader is one that when a nation cowers in complacency, passivity, fear, and apathy, God will find him or her ready to fulfill His purposes.

He will use His leader to deliver the nation and draw it back to Him.

It’s a tragedy that God can only find a few when the need arises.

There should be many in the body of Christ, but alas, it’s not the case.

Yet, God will not be short circuited.

He always reserves to Himself, those few, and works through them a mighty work.

God’s leader will allow God to perfect him.

He will repent of everything that God tells him to, and make himself ready for the great task at hand.

He will place himself in a place that through this repentance, can get the victory and breakthrough in everything, and thus make himself available to be God’s man or woman of the hour.

He will not wait for others to respond, for they may all be stuck in the apathy and complacency of Face book and technological entertainment.

Others are worshiping  America’s golden calf, Comfort!

A mark of God’s leader is one who gets sick and tired of the devil mocking the nation, God, and the righteous ways of life, that he is stirred to do what must  be done for the glory of God.

He realizes that if it’s only him, he will step out to help deliver the country, in Jesus Name.

I think that many in the body of Christ resist the move of the Spirit.

Pastors spend much time and resources ministering to them.

Lord, always send me to those who want the move of the Spirit.

God will turn to the young generation to carry out His work, if us the older one remain as spiritual fuddie duddies stuck behind the walls of our Christian ghettos.

I will not be left behind. I will be a father to this new generation.

God is looking for the nameless and faceless Davids who will deliver America from the demonic Goliaths who mock it. Where are they?

“The best answer we have to America’s ills can only be found in God.

And the best answer within the realm of God is a revival and awakening back to Him, where men’s and women’s blind spiritual eyes can see and they can pull out of the mess which the devil deceived them into.

And God is ready to spark revivals through nameless and faceless Christians all around the world, if they are ready to do anything and everything for Him.

The world is not against God, they are against religion.

Christians think that it’s an us against them war but it’s not.

Everybody loves to see power and glory, whom God is the author of.

Everybody wants to have a good time, whom God is the author of.

Everybody wants to have some fun and laugh, whom God is the author of.

Religion has made God into an old prune. He is quite the opposite.

Pure love, whom God is, can only dwell in joy, happiness and good times.

Isn’t that what people are looking for?

God uses the normal Joe and Jane equally to a Reinhart Bonkhe or a Billy Graham.

The church not only focus on them, but say, God send me, here am I.’

Money Makes The World Go Around

1 John 2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

First John two and fifteen is an example of what I call a “proportional scripture.”  In other words, to the proportion that the love for the things of this world fills the limited space of our heart, is to the same proportion that the love of God has no more room within that limited space, and must leave.

If we see the importance of our ministry as greater than that of being simple  love slaves of Christ Jesus without any rights, save the right to obey, the things of this world will not be taken to the cross, and our ministry will take place in the bondage of vainglory, jealousy, bitterness and the likes.

True ministry is never about numbers, money, fame, glory or recognition.  It is simple moment-to-moment obedience to the Lord as He tells us where to go and what to do, whether it would be to the small or the great, the exciting or the mundane.

  1Tim 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

Teach otherwise  – Literally “Another doctrine”.  Let us further study what Paul means by “another doctrine” by going to Ephesians four and fourteen.

 Eph 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Greek translation:  By the “spiritual dice playing” of men in which they work around you with the goal of implementing the methodology of error.

Sounds like what is occurring our country?

When we teach, or are taught the “supposed word of God” that does not line up with “wholesome words” of scriptures, we end up teaching the “doctrines of men.

Wholesome” is a medical term that means to be “healthy”.

Only a thorough and accurate knowledge of the Word of God promotes healthy teaching that will make us whole in the Lord.

Romans 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; ( Greek: Suppress or tightly cover the truth)

“Doctrines of men” activate the methods of error, and suppresses the righteousness of God.  God’s righteousness is the visible manifestation of His glorious deeds upon the earth.  If we teach, or are taught what is wrong, the activity of the Spirit of God is restricted in proportion to the error.

There has been no time, since I have been in this country that there has been a more concerted attack to suppress the truth by lies and corruption. This must be countered by the manifestation of truth.

The devil’s purpose against America goes back to Ephesians.

Eph 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Greek translation:  By the “spiritual dice playing” of men in which they work around you with the goal of implementing the methodology of error.

3 John 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

New Testament prosperity comes from two words which mean a “good road” or a  “good path”.   This implies success or accomplishment in the expeditious matter what we have set out to do.

If we desire to have true success in our finances as believers, our success must start with spiritual things.

Matthew 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

1 Tim 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Contentment  – It is defined as the state of being so filled with the Spirit of God that the believer is self-sufficient solely in the fullness of the Spirit.  By this self-sufficiency I mean, that the Christian is totally free or independent from being swayed or trapped by the sufficiency that comes from external circumstances and worldly affairs.   His or her sufficiency is in the Lord and not upon external means. This type of believers are content with having little or much, because they  are independently self-sufficient from the world system, and solely dependent and self-sufficient in the revelation of the Lord Jesus.

The cultivation of godliness must be found in the gardens of contentment and the absolute freedom from being dependent on anything else but the Lord.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

I love how the Greek NT scholar Marvin Vincent translates this scripture; “ We brought nothing into this world because we can carry nothing out.”

8  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

Greek:  And having food and covering we shall be self-sufficient in the Lord.

9 But they that will (to plan for and deliberately purpose to ) be rich fall into temptation( the trials of the devil and sin) and a snare (the same word used for a snare used to catch birds and beasts, unaware), and into many foolish (void of understanding)  and hurtful( injurious)  lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.( which cause men to sink into destruction and perdition)

Destruction: Destruction has to do with many types of earthly calamities, bondages, and illnesses that come to plague people as they make it their chief aim to become rich, without thinking of God

Perdition – Perdition can also be termed as destruction, but many times it is the outcome of the destruction brought by the love of money.  Perdition can contain within it both spiritual and eternal aspects. The calamities brought by the love of money on many occasions send people to hell because the lord mammon has taken the precedence over the Lord Jesus.

10  or the love of money (a fond love) is the (a root) root of all evil: which while some coveted after( to stretch out after in order to grasp) they have erred from the faith (to be led astray from the truth and into idolatry), and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (grief, distress and pain.)

Greek:  For “a”(not “the”) root of all types of what is injurious, destructive and harmful is the fondness of money

11  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

I  love the word “flee”!

Our English word for fugitive comes from this word. Several dictionary definitions such as a runaway, a person who is fleeing, or someone who takes to flight describes the fugitive.

My friends, we must be fugitives from the love of selfish material gain.

Likewise, I love the word “follow after”, which is the word for persecute!

My friends, we must be fugitives from the love money and persecute instead righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness!

Righteousness:  The visible and righteous exhibitions of the works of the invisible God through our lives.  Likewise, righteousness is also the outward results of the grace or labor that the Lord performs within us. We must be “living molds” of the image of the Lord Jesus Christ, the outcome of the super human labor of the revealed Christ, and not the bondage brought through our own efforts by the works of the law.  Persecute this!

12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Greek: Athletically agonize in the beautifully athletic conflict of faith.

Grasp and make for your own eternal life now on earth.

In which you have confessed a beautiful confession. (Confession is the reality of what lies inside of us as expressed outwardly through an honest mouth.  A beautiful confession can only come forth from a beautiful life.)

13  That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Greek   Guard, and watch over carefully, to fully perform, the commandment without blemish, free from vice, and with nothing that the devil or man can take a hold of, or point an accusatory finger at.

17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy

Nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,   “Nor to hope in the riches of uncertainty.”

Who giveth us richly all things to enjoy   Who supplies us richly from His own resources.

 18  That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Ready to distribute:   Always ready to impart with openhanded liberality.

Willing to communicate.  The TDNT defines this rare New Testament word as “belonging or appointed to society” or “gladly giving others a share.”

“Willing to communicate” comes from the word for fellowship, which is to “have in common.”

In America we understand fellowship to mean Christian brothers and sisters getting together at Denny’s for pie or coffee.  Fellowship also means our getting together for church or a Bible study.

However the notion of “Christian fellowship” goes further than this.  To fellowship in the NT fashion is to hold things in common.  Christians must be ready to hold things material, emotional, and spiritual, in common with each other, as the Lord directs. “What is mine is yours” is what I am saying.

My wife, Mary, has a wonderful story that has made a real impact upon my life.  When she was a missionary with Youth With a Mission in England, there were many young people that virtually had to pray in their soap, toothpaste, and the expenses for the school.  Mary came into the organization with a trust fund that paid her monthly expenses. The Lord had prior to this revealed to her that everything belonged to Him.  Everyone that was attending the school was just the same as Mary; God loved then equally, and wanted to bless them in the just same way as Mary had been blessed.  She was simply the steward of the trust fund as the Holy Spirit directed.  This, friend, is the meaning of “New Testament” fellowship.”

New Testament fellowship must supersede religious tithing! This is a very important truth!

Today, we hear more and more what I consider as unsound doctrinal arguments regarding that tithing is in the OT only

I believe that there is soundness in tithes and offerings.  For thirty four years I have tithed and have never lacked anything.  Today, I still tithe and find that there is strong spiritual safety in doing it. However I find myself being governed much more by the law of fellowship.  In other words at any, and in all occasions, I must be ready to impart great or small, from all my possessions whether physical, emotional, or spiritual as led by the Holy Spirit, knowing that nothing belongs to me, and that God loves and wants to bless everyone equally to me.

If American believers would follow the “law of fellowship” more than the “religious tithe”, many more ministries and missions would be amply taken care of.

2 Corinthians 9:6  But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

He which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Greek: “He that soweth upon a blessing shall reap upon a blessing.”

What the apostle Paul has in mind when he tells us to sow bountifully is that our sowing must be of such quality and in such quantity that it will reach to produce a real blessing upon someone else.  Such a man or woman will reap a blessing back from the Lord.  Mother Teresa said, “We must love until it hurts.”
