Are You Alive or Dead to Sin ?

  • Can a corpse be enticed to sin?
  • No, because He is dead!
  • Can a corpse be enticed to do drugs, or pornography, or sleep around with someone else’s wife?
  • No, because he is dead!
  • So, a corpse is dead to sin!
  • Look at what Paul says about the Christian!

Romans 6: 2  God forbid! How shall we, who are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

  • A corpse is dead to sin, or dead to being enticed by it!
  • Though sin is very much alive in this world, a corpse does not respond to it. It’s unable to!
  • Therefore it is dead to sin, though sin continues to be alive to it.

Differentiating this is really important!

Why does Paul tell us this?

  • The Christian died with Christ on the cross.
  • When Christ became a corpse she became a corpse.

6  knowing this: that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

  • Now mind you, we are alive, because we have been resurrected with Christ.
  • But as to our pre Christ person, we are a corpse!

6  knowing this: that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

  • The body of sin is the sinful nature which we were born with.
  •  It’s a sin producing engine that keeps people sinning because it never stops running.
  • People cannot do anything else but sin, because of this engine inside of them.
  • That sin producing engine stopped running when you and I became a corpse in Christ.
  • We still sin because the deeply ingrained habits of sin.

The Holy Spirit takes care of that!

  • But that sin producing engine is gone, because a corpse cannot keep it.

7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.

  •  So Paul tells us that he is that is dead is freed from sin, because a corpse is freed from sin.
  • The corpse is the freest of all people!

Are you free?

Romans 12:2  And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

  • Transformed, is the word metamorphosis.

It’s just like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.

  • We need to be metamorphosed by the renewing of our minds into the new creature who knows that is dead to sin and no longer needs to respond to or be enticed by it.

This is why I am a stickler for the renewing of the mind.

This is why the hyper grace only message will leave you sinning.

  • Finally, a corpse cannot have sickness.

Sickness is alive around him, but he is dead to it and cannot keep it or respond to it!

Have you ever seen a sick corpse?

Romans 8;12  Therefore, brothers, we are debtors–not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

Therefore we are not debtors to live by what the flesh tells us.

For sure, a corpse is not in debt to sin or sickness.

  • Are you dead to responding to or being enticed by sin or sickness? Or do you live as if you are still alive to it?

Think about this today!

Why Did God Give Us The Star of Bethlehem?

Our journey of faith through the book that my wife Mary wrote is on Amazon!

“As we drove west to Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico, Mama and Daddy observed that the comet Hale‐Bopp was always in front of us. It comforted them, as it reminded them of the Star of Bethlehem.”

If A Christian Were a Pickle Why Would Life Be Splendid?

I am gathering notes for my upcoming E Book, The ABC of Living in the Spirit.

I wrote this many years back. I find it so good; I needed to share it with you.

It just shows that if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus you already have everything you need.

The problem is one of entering and living in the new identity, existence or being which are already ours.

The one who fights us from entering in is our double mindedness.

Or as motivational speaker, Loly Daskal says, “Our own contradictions.”

Blessings

Jose

Gal 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ( submerged into the domain, sphere, or world of Christ’s influence and sovereignty ) have put on Christ (now wear Christ, whom as clothes which totally cover us, influences and affects back through us to conform us into His image.)

I once read an excellent example of Biblical baptism.  In the days of Christ there was a recipe to create a “pickled” vegetable.  It was said that a vegetable was BAPTISED into THE LOCATION or SPHERE of a vinegar solution.  After a while, the vinegar WORKED INSTRUMENTALLY BACK through the vegetable and “pickled” it.

Tofu, likewise, acquires the taste and texture of any food that it is baptized into.

We can say that with whatever food the tofu is BAPTISED INTO, it is INSTRUMENTALLY influenced back by that food to make the tofu like it.

At a meeting several weeks ago, I saw several visions of the earth, as a globe. The Lord told me, that this was the world of the Holy Spirit, and that we need to live in it.

During the worship time I dedicated myself to going deeper into the world of the Spirit.   I suddenly saw within this world the availability of everything, as all solutions to all human needs were place and positioned in different places along the sides of this world.

By the availability of everything, I mean that all things are possible, because all things that pertain to humanity were positioned in God’s reconciled, whole, and restored state.

I saw that every disease could be healed, and every problem had an answer, because there was no disease, but only the completed healing of it, in the world of the Spirit.

What Makes The Church and Coca Cola So Similar?

Eph 1:22  And He subjected all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

23  which is His body, the fullness of Him filling all things in all.

The word for “fullness” is a most interesting one.

Imagine that you have a bottle filled with Coca Cola.

What is the Coca Cola?  Is it the bottle, or is it the liquid inside of it?

It is that brown, sweet, delightful liquid that we gulp down with joy!

So what is this liquid called Coca Cola made of?

Well, it is made up of every ingredient that is perfectly mixed in its required quantities and precise order, to lawfully recognize and labeled it as this reality that we call Coca Cola, exclusive from anything else in the universe.

This is the fullness of Coca Cola!

The  fullness of Coca Cola is the very essence and nature of this liquid, which makes it to be Coca Cola and nothing else.

The fullness of God describes the very essence, the reality, and the evidence of who God is.  It also describes every attribute and characteristic that is required, to make God, God, exclusive from anything else in the universe.

The church has inherited and has become the fullness of God, thanks to what  Jesus did.

The church is responsible before God to manifest Him in His very essence and reality.

There is no entity like the church in the universe, for it has been engineered to display the fullness of God in glory to a world that cannot see Him. Nothing else can do this!

If a believer in Jesus allows God to touch her, and transform her in every aspect of her life as she obeys Him, she will be progressively filled with His fullness.

In theory, if she would yield every aspect of her life to the Lord, she would be filled with all the fullness of God.

In the phrase, “the fullness of Him filling all things” we find a God who desires to fill every person, and every part of that person, with Himself.”

However God wants to go further. He is not satisfied with filling every part of one believer with Himself.  In any church, God desires to fill every part of every believer within Himself.  As this takes place, the fullness of the Lord becomes manifested through that church and makes God visible in His glory

Can you imagine the power of the church if every person was on his or her way to be filled with God’s fullness. Multiply that by one hundred in one church. What would that look like?

There is no human institution as powerful as the church!

Wherever the glory of the Lord is displayed, multitudes will always throng to hear Him and to be ministered to by Him.  This is the definition of revival, and it can only occur through the manifested presence of the Lord.

Revival is one of the primary functions and responsibilities of every church.    Jesus did not have to bring revival.  He is “the revival.”  The more that He becomes manifested; an automatic revival will always ensue.

The NT Testament church model demands that every believer must be touched, transformed, and filled by the Lord Jesus in every aspect of their lives  for the  corporate model of the fullness of Jesus to be displayed in glory to the world by the church.

Every church has been called to be a center of revival where it’s located.

An Atheist’s Birthday Present!

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob and Dori  Schnelle at one of our healing meetings in Martin County, Florida, yesterday.

Bob was a professing agnostic and or atheist for 45 years, who encountered Jesus on his 60th birthday.

His story follows the note which he included with it.

 Jose,

It was amazing watching the Holy Spirit work through you and your wife and Alicia last night.  I felt like I had been given a fresh infusion of the Spirit and will do great things in the name of our Lord.  We talked a little about my testimony afterward and I told you I would send it to you.  So, I have attached a copy of it, just as it was written and given, at the Vineyard Church Northwest, in Cincinnati, during the Alpha celebration dinner, November 2011.

Feel free to share it however you like.

God bless you and keep you!

Bob Schnelle

Testimony of Bob Schnelle

November 15, 2012

I come from a poor family.  Both my parents worked nearly all their lives to support their five children.  My older sister and I were taught how to care for our younger siblings; how to cook, how to do dishes, wash and iron clothes, clean the house.  My father was an alcoholic and wasn’t home a lot.  Mom was the real disciplinarian.  And she was really good at it.

I had my first alcoholic drink when I was four years old.  My father gave it to me, so we could have a “man-to-man” talk.  I was six the first time I got drunk.  My father took me to a party where beer was available and I asked if I could have a little.  He said, “Sure,” and just laughed.  It was self-serve so I served myself.  I don’t remember the argument my parents had that night because I was passed out.  My older sister told me about it later.

When I was ten, a race riot broke out in the projects, sparked by a stabbing at a school dance.  And on a mound of dirt piled near the property line between our back yard and the school ball field, someone had erected and burned a cross.  We moved the following summer, into a rented house in Winton Place, now known as Spring Grove Village.  Our church attendance stopped then.

My introduction to church was made possible only by weekly bus trips from the government housing projects we lived in to whatever church would pick us up for free.  My early understanding of Jesus was through the usual Bible stories and memorized verses in Sunday School.  And since the churches with buses were mostly Baptist and Mom didn’t want us learning too many Baptist teachings, we didn’t think much of all of it.

I started smoking that same year.  I was drinking on a regular basis when I was thirteen.  The year I started high school, was my re-introduction to church.  I attended Confirmation Class for seven months of Saturdays.  Eventually, I was baptized, the United Church of Christ ceremony for cleansing us of our Original Sin from Adam & Eve, and the beginning of our “adult” membership in the church.  My mother and I were the only ones of our family who attended church, fairly regularly for a couple of years.  It was the closest she and I would ever be.

By the time I was sixteen, our regular church attendance had slowed to intermittent, then to only Good Friday, Easter and Christmas, then stopped altogether.  I had added taking drugs to my repertoire of sins.  I began to feel that being a Christian was too restrictive and the Bible was merely a good, allegorical book written by well-meaning men about one Supreme Being among many (God), and about a teacher (Jesus) who couldn’t possibly have been born the way we were told to believe.  So I quit believing in Jesus as anything other than the main character in Bible stories.  My belief in God quickly followed suit.  I began declaring that I was an atheist, or an agnostic.  I said it often enough to convince myself it was true and I said it sincerely enough to rationalize my life choices.

I began skipping school—a lot.  Going to school seemed almost as pointless as going to church.  I learned to pick locks with a knife.  I broke into churches, cars and schools.  I stole cigarettes and Playboy magazines from the neighborhood stores.  I stole money from my father.  The violence of the 1960s, internationally, nationally, and even in our neighborhood seemed incompatible with a reasonable and merciful God.  I was nearly mugged, in broad daylight, just two blocks from my house.  The only thing that saved me was that I actually knew one of the guys!

By the time I was seventeen, the military seemed the only way out of life as an unemployed, alcoholic, juvenile delinquent, well on his way to becoming an unemployed, alcoholic, adult, with no future beyond being unskilled labor in a low-paying job.  My parents didn’t argue.  I got a G.E.D., thanks to an Army recruiter who drove me to Thomas More College to take the tests.

After the Army, I focused on getting to college.  At least my attitude about school had changed in four years.  I made it my singular focus, much to the detriment of my family life.  I was married and divorced three times in twenty years.  I got my degree, but my life was a mess.  I alternated visitation with two daughters and two stepsons, by two different women, all while working and going to school.  My older sister was murdered in 1977.  My father died four years later, at age forty-eight, of liver disease and, perhaps, a broken heart.

My oldest daughter became a drug addict and ultimately lost custody of all four of her sons, each of whom were by different men.  I testified against her at one of the custody hearings.  My youngest daughter had trouble in all her relationships with men.  She went to Canada and married her lesbian college lover, had a child by in-vitro fertilization and is now back living with her mother—her “marriage” a shambles.  I always felt like that was the legacy I left for my children.

Today, I stand before you twice blessed.  My first blessing is my wonderful wife, Dori.  If not for her, I may not have even been here today.  I mean here, on this earth today, and certainly not here, in this building today.  If not for her, it’s likely I would have gone the way my father did.  I was well on my way.  My brother and my two sisters are alcoholics.  If not for Dori, I would never have come to church.  She didn’t ask me to come, because she knew my feelings about church and religion.  But since I retired three months ago, I began to wonder if I ought to explore this whole religion thing again.  Dori seemed to enjoy it and I wanted to make sure she hadn’t joined a bunch of Jesus Freaks or some kind of cult, so I thought it was a good idea to go to church with my wife.  You know, to check things out and be ready to talk her out of it, or de-program her, if necessary.

The first time I came here with her, it was a day when people were asked to heal others with prayer.  I almost walked out.  I was waiting for the snake-handlers to come out next.  I was skeptical, to say the least, but I didn’t dismiss it out of hand and agreed to continue going, so long as really weird stuff like that didn’t happen every day.

After only a couple more times in church, I decided to sign up for Alpha with Dori, as I thought it would be a good way to get more information about Christianity—I am a firm believer in getting all the information you can before making a decision about anything, including Christianity.  I had lots of questions I had built up over my years of atheism/agnosticism.

In our first Alpha session, we were asked if we thought of ourselves as Christians.  I said, “I can state unequivocally, that I am not a Christian.”  And it was okay to say that, in a group of regular, church-going Christian-type strangers!  Nobody was shocked!  Like a good student (rather ironic, that!), I did my homework and read the Bible verses referenced in the Alpha booklet.  I found myself reading other verses and chapters in the Bible, even reading the wrong passage a couple of times.  And all the questions I’d stored up over the years were answered, even many I failed to ask.

My second blessing came on October 9, 2012, my 60th birthday, while sitting at my dining room table (which doubles as my home office desk), praying for understanding and proclaiming, “Jesus is Lord,” over and over and actually believing it.  I felt a sudden inrush of light and love that took my breath away and I cried because it felt so good.  And I knew then, that the Holy Spirit had come to me.  Immediately, I felt changed, peaceful, content.  That was my heart.  Mentally, I still had to come to grips with what had happened.  So I didn’t tell anyone about it right away, not even my wife.  In Alpha, two days later, I announced to the group that I do believe that Jesus Christ died for me and that I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior.

I know that accepting Jesus is only the first step in a journey and that being a Christian takes work!  I have to change some things!  But I also know that I have put to death my old self and have been reborn in Christ and I feel, deep inside of me, different and new.  I’m excited about my new life and I’ve begun to tell others, friends and relatives.  That’s why I wanted to be here tonight, in front of you all.  And I’ve invited my mother to come to church with us and have thought about inviting my sister as well.  I hope they come and I hope they can experience what I have.

Dori and I have had a wonderful marriage and I didn’t know how it could have been much better, but now, we are truly together in Christ and it’s amazing how much more in love we are.  Dori is retiring next week and we don’t know what God has planned for us now, as we begin our new life together as a retired, Christian couple.  We’ve finished Alpha now and have already made new friends in our group and with so many more of you here tonight.  And I can’t wait to participate in another group, or lead a group, and learn even more and get to know more people.

Dori and I make time to read the Bible every day and pray all the time, to give thanks, for understanding, for guidance, for other people, for forgiveness, to praise Him and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.  We pray for help in living a Christian life and for God to show us the way to put what gifts we have been given from Him to His use, instead of ours.  I can’t wait to see what He has in store for us!

How To Create A Blueprint For Your Ministry?

Heb 8: 5  Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

When Moses was about to build the tabernacle God cautioned him to construct it in accordance to a specific pattern, model, or blueprint that He would show him.

The Lord has a particular and unique pattern of construction for every local assembly, or every corporate and individual ministry.

The word “admonished” is defined as “divine instruction according to revelation.”

This is an exhortation for us to carefully build our ministries step by step in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes.

Every earthly ministry is as “an example and shadow of heavenly things.”

“An example”, is a copy or a model of the original.

Every ministry, which God calls us into, is the copy of an original which God has already created and dwells with Him in the heavenlies.

The brilliancy and the glory of these heavenly ministries create for us a shadow, or an outline, for the ones who have been called to reproduce these ministries here on earth.

The vast responsibility of all believers is to reproduce its heavenly original with the greatest of earthly accuracy.

The blessings of God will fall upon each ministry in proportion to how accurately it has been reproduced in “accordance with the pattern shown in the mount.”

One of the church’s great problems is that it has failed to understand that every ministry has a “pattern shown in the mount.”

Because of this failure, we actively subscribe to, and create many  church activities.  Sadly, not many of them have much to do with any “patterns” that God had initially for them.  Thus we sow much and reap little.

We will do much more by seeking and waiting upon the Lord for revelation, than in busily getting wrapped up in a flurry of church activities.

How Do You Get Rid of a Demon?

I wrote this several years back!

I will describe one of my biggest battles in dying to my old life and having the Christ take full control.

Until today, I was still one of those children of the onion. Let me explain.

Today one huge stronghold of my control over that of Christ’s fell today.

Any area where our lives are not under the loving control of Christ is an area where the demonic will have its spidery legs wrapped around our soul, health, wealth, and body.

I call it spidery, because God has revealed demons as spiders. Spiders do not have to move much. They are simply there. They suck the life out of you. They roost on top of the sin which you love. They slowly destroy you from this beach head of sin. From there, they weave their spidery webs in the recesses of your soul.  Their long legs wrap themselves into the subconscious areas, and by them, create fortresses of hostility towards God, all in your mind.

The work of demons is obscure. Demons are onion lovers. They hide in onions.  These onions are their cocoons. These types of onions are sins. As the layers of sin peel off, as that of an onion, the demon spider is finally exposed, and Christ expels it out from your life. At the core of every onion called sin, there is always a demon. He is the last one to come out, and only when you have pealed the onion, with the knife of repentance. You can never get to the demon, until you get to the sin. You can never get to the sin as long as you love it.  As long as the onion is there, the demon is right in there, too. The only knife that works is that of repentance.

Demons make you feel that you are the one with the problem.  You are the one who is sick. You are the one who is anxious. When in fact it’s his attack from the outside. He will wound you by means of the spidery legs which work from the shadowy cocoon of sin’s onion.

This well hid spider deceives you.  Its deceptions create a false identity which you embrace.  The identity could be to become famous, or rich, take up a cause, or extol your personal rights, or worse still, to disobey God.

It could be a need to stay sick, in self-pity, to be a martyr, a victim, one who is offended, depressed or unable to forgive.  These breed negative attention. Others attend to you because you are a victim, a martyr, or someone who is ill.

This identity becomes a fortress, a citadel in your mind. You live and die for it. I was still holding to a false identity. Worse still, I was wishing for this identity, and asking God to make me into the person who owned it. This false person had become me. We call this a pseudo fantasy, a false imagination. We idolize our imaginations and fantasies and what we create in them.

The only real identity is Christ in me. Every other identity must die. Every other identity bows its knee to Christ.  Demons only respect Christ. They don’t respect me, or my false fantasies. They don’t respect any other identity, except the one which Christ has, and which is Christ.

So as long as you love any sin, remember that it is an onion, which has a demon at its core and which is still preying on you.  You are still the children of the onion.
