How To Get The Victory?

Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all(katergazomai), to stand,

We are encourage to take the whole armor of God and having done all to stand, to stand therefore.

“Having done all” is the word “katergazomai.’

This word means to work everything out, leave no stone unturned and obtain the victory in everything.

It depicts us as warriors in a terrible struggle against the world, Satan, and sin.  The big ball of dull is kicked up as were engage in these gladiator struggles.  When the dust finally settles we remain standing victoriously, as Satan, sin and the world lay scattered at our feet.  The command is to carry out all things to a complete victory.

The reason why the church is so weak is because few understand and obey katergazomai.

Tim Ferriss and The Law of the Thinning Air

Tim Ferriss, the brilliant entrepreneur has formulated “The Law of the Thinning Air.”

  1. As one climbs a mountain, the air becomes thinner.
  2. Astronauts use oxygen tanks in space because the air so darn scarce.
  3. Most air molecules compete with each other at lower levels.
  4. At higher levels the competition gets limited.
  5. The same goes for everyday life.
  6. Competition is fierce at the mediocre levels.
  7. The world is a herd of mediocre cattle.
  8. Few strive for excellence.
  9. But if you do, you will find yourself in a stratosphere void of competition.
  10. It’s easy to become a billionaire because there is such scarcity of competition at such high levels.
  11. Be crazy good! Be crazy innovative! Be the expert at something!
  12. Figure out something to help the world than no one else does.
  13. Suddenly you find yourself alone and no one to challenge you.
  14. The whole world is opened to you.

The Pareto Principle

80 percent of output comes from 20 percent of input.

80 percent of results comes from 20 percent of the efforts.

80 percent of company profits comes from 20 percent of the product and customers

80 percent of the work is done by 20 percent of the people

80 percent of the people complain about the 20 percent of the people who are doing 80 percent of the work for them.

Which 20 of sources are causing 80 percent my problems and unhappiness?

What 20 percent of sources are resulting in 80 percent of desired outcomes and happiness?

Identify the advertisement that is generating 80 percent of my revenue!

My Three, Four, and Five Hundred Approach to Weight Loss

By the grace of God, I’ve almost lost 40 pounds.

My goal is 185 lbs.

I was at 230 lbs.

God convicted me to lose weight so it has not been hard.

I’ll make my secret simple.

Invest in a good digital scale. Something in the neighborhood of forty dollars.

You need to have an accurate ongoing record of your weight progress.

Then use the 300, 400, 500 rule.

300 calories for breakfast.

400 calories for lunch.

500 calories for dinner.

You many need a bit more calories than I do.

The experts would have me at 1400-1500 calories per day to lose, but I feel good with the 1200 or 1300 that I ingest.

Check it for out as per your height, age, gender, lifestyle activity level, and so forth.

One of the few blessings of “big government over regulation” is that everything now has the calories on it.

So add them up at every eating.

Eat from all food groups. Don’t leave out starches or sweets or vegetables or you will end up craving them and blowing it later.

Eat your three meals a day. Do not skip a meal.

Indulge yourself when someone invites you to their home but don’t overdo it.

If you blow it, get on the bandwagon the next day.

My saving grace is two heaping tablespoons of Betty Crocker frosting per day.

This is about 80 calories per clump.

If you are in a location where you cannot count calories then use my one cup, one half, one fourth approach.

Purchase a three dollar set of measuring cups from Walmart and carry them with you.

If its breakfast. I measure one heaping cup of dry cereal, pour it into a bowl and use Silk Soy Milk.

I also love good black coffee with out anything.

Then I use the Art Linkletter approach by which he lost 70 pounds. Eat everything but cut all portions by half.

All of your desserts squash them into the ¼ cup size before eating.

More than anything ask God to help you.

Blessings.

The Faith of Abraham

Romans 4:17  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead (corpses), and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

This verse tells us that the nature of our God is to call forth the things, which are still not physically in existence as having the same reality and essence of things, which are in existence.

This is one of the facets of faith!

Abraham’s faith in God was so great, that out of corpse like circumstances, and out of things, which in reality dis not exist, God made Abraham into a father of many nations and millions of people.

This is called the faith of Abraham.

What Is The Great Catalyst?

Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and ACCESS with confidence by the faith of him.

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have ACCESS by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

CONFIDENCE in the voice of God is the great catalyst of energy which releases the gifts and the power of God.

It gives us the boldness to access the realities of God’s kingdom.

The amount of confidence that we have in obeying God, or giving a word, or praying for someone, is directly proportional to the access that we will have to the anointing, the power, the gifts or to the grace of God.

Confidence by faith gives us boldness with God and most important of all, ACCESS into the things of the kingdom of God.

“ACCESS” in the things of the kingdom of God is the right to obtain or use or take advantage of something (as services or membership).

Five minutes of prayer with absolute confidence in the voice of the Spirit does more than a month of praying in doubt!

Any incremental increase in our confidence will exponentially increase ACCESS into the things of the kingdom

How To Have A Great Marriage !

My wife Mary and I will celebrate 27th year of marriage in 2015.

We have had a problem free marriage. By that I mean, no unresolved issues have ever lingered.

We have never gone to sleep with unsettled problems

We have never had an argument that was not fixed that day.

Are we special? Of course not!

Am I perfect? Just ask my children!

The key to success is putting God and His will always first.

Mary and I met in 1986 in church, after her return from the mission fields.

We discovered that God had crossed our tracks several times.

Our paths intersected at North Miami Beach Elementary School in 1962.

I attended there after leaving Cuba.

At the school I learned English during the Cuban missile crisis and practiced ducking under desks in case it became real.

Right after leaving North Beach, little Mary also attended.

In 1977, my family moved from the Virgin Islands, to Key Biscayne, Florida.

My parents got a rental on Island Drive.

I discovered that Mary’s family left Island Drive, just before our arrival. Is this coincidence or divine destiny? I believe the latter, from a God who knows beginning to end.

If you are single, and love the Lord, be encouraged today!

God has that perfect one for you, like he had for me.

It’s much better to be single who loves Jesus, than to be married, love Jesus, but be married to a guy who hates him.

I have frequently observed single Christian women who love Jesus are happier than married Christian women who love Jesus, because their unbelieving husbands pull them down.

Enjoy your singlehood, loving and serving Jesus. Trust me, you are much better off. Fret not; God has that perfect one for you. Wait for him. Don’t focus on marriage, focus on Him.

I understand the loneliness of Christian singlehood. My advice is that you become married to Jesus. Draw close to and become filled with His Spirit. Most of your loneliness will leave.

God brought Mary, when I was contented to be single, even if it was to be so for the rest of my life. I was enthralled and in love with Jesus. I had forgotten about marriage, when my sweet Mary came.

I recommend, not to date, but wait for God’s one to come. I have seen many a good Christian fall into the pit of immorality. The flesh is weak, and God knows that. The problem with falling into immorality is that the devil’s condemnation last for months and severely injures the Christian’s walk.

Mary and I became great friends but presumed that God had destined us for others.

On the same day that I passed my FCC broadcasting test which I had failed twice, God opened our eyes. This was 1987. Now we knew that God was calling us to marriage. God knows how to open doors, and keep them shut. When you are in His will, He can move with blazing speed.

After three dates, we knew the calling to marriage and obeyed. Six months later we wed.   We were not in love when we married. We joined in obedience to God. The falling in love came after tying the knot.

From the beginning, Mary and I prayed together. Prayer is not simply talking to God. This prayer is about listening to God’s voice, His will, and then obeying.

We’ve learned the secret that in everything by doing the will of God and by laying ours down, things always turns out right.

We have done many crazy things in the Name of the Lord. But like cats which are constantly dropped from third floors, God makes us land on all fours.

God does not have two voices. He only has one . If a couple hears two things, something is wrong. This means that multiple agendas have not been surrendered to embrace God’s one. But this is the secret to a good marriage! Always, and in everything, couples lay down your will, and embrace God’s. He has one voice and one will. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all things that you wish for will be added to you.

Always put parents, children, and families, second, to God and His will. This sounds harsh, but it’s huge. I have seen many put fathers and mothers and children before God and His will, to destructive results. Family idolatry is one of the most damaging things in Christianity. If we put Him above all, He blesses our parents and children with the very best.

Mary and I are entirely honest with each other. We do not keep secrets. Good communication is critical. Talking things out and praying them through is crucial.

As a family, God taught us to be a team. We have endeavored to do as much as possible together. Our children come before ministry. We let them find their own way with the Lord. We don’t ask them to copy our Christian walk.

God is so great, if we always put Him first! You won’t go wrong.

The Parking Spot

This is the coveted parking space at a Publix in Miami.

It’s closest to the store so it’s not empty for more than 15 seconds.

It’s so desired that in 10 minutes one day I observed separate irate customers get out from their cars and challenge another customer who had taken it.

One lady ran out from her van to tell another woman, “Did you not see that my friend had been waiting to get this spot?”

So I was fortunate enough to find it empty and take it.

I now avoid it like the plague!

# 1 The proximity of the spot to the store provides a ceaseless bombardment of people coming out from it who walk right behind my van, shopping carts and all.

# 2 The same proximity affords a ceaseless bombardment of cars which turn right at the spot trying to get it or another close by.

# 3 South Floridians are weatherized in 24/7 AC which cannot be healthy to a human body. Why not afford a few minutes per week of natural air that you skin can breathe?

#4 Of the 38 lbs. which I’ve lost one of them is the extra three minutes of walking to the store per year, by parking farther. Just think of the weight you can lose?

 # 5 The three minutes of additional walking is lost in the five minutes of added time in getting out of the spot combined with the potential for a heart attack as extreme stress and anger develops as I am blocked by a continual flow of cars and people.

# 6 What about preferring your neighbor sometimes over yourself?

Blessings
