You Can Hear A Real Angel Sing!

We were coming home with our friend Gina Choi after praying with a hospitalized family member. Gina has the blog, Unni’s Room on

She turned my wife Mary and me on to gospel singer Jason Upton’s live recording, “Fly”, taped in a college auditorium in Alexandria, Louisiana.

What makes this song so amazing is that an angel who is seen as a fog descending from the ceiling of the auditorium joins Jason in performing beautiful harmonies.

I have included an interview with Michael, one of the Jason’s band members about that magical night.

According to Michael, no one except Jason sang on this rendition of Fly.

The angels voice can first be heard at 5:03 on the video.

The interview with band member Michael, is first, followed by this spectacular video.

Everbody Is A Star

In the early 80’ I was living with my father and mother in Key Biscayne, Florida.

I had given my heart to Jesus Christ in 1979, and through His kindness was coming out of catastrophic brokenness.

Fifteen years of drinking, ten years of drugs, many in pornography, a severe stutterer, a college dropout, and engrossed in many insecurities and rejection.

I needed God’s miracles to keep chasing after me.

I had never sensed love deep inside.

I felt handicapped, broken, unprotected, and un provided for, imprisoned by the fearful monster of panic in my mind.

For a person such as me, God’s wonders were tokens of love.

Like candies, ice cream, and toys they pursued me, slowly breaking me free from a world of fear which had been so ensnaring.

I was a jogger in those days and ran between three to five miles.

It was a blisteringly hot summer day.

The deep blue skies were brilliant and cloudless. I jogged to the beach.

I had no money or water. When I turned to go back, I was parched from thirst and dehydrating in the scorching day.

The sun beat down on me. I was sweating I could no longer run. I had three miles to walk back.

“Oh God, I need water or a coke, or something…” I insistently pleaded. “Have mercy on me!”

“God, send some clouds for this terrible sun to hide behind”; but there were none.

I couldn’t find a water fountain in the office buildings as I walked back

Suddenly, it began to lightly rain!

Through my sweaty eyes I pierced up into the glittering sky.

Not a cloud in sight. I scanned the sidewalk.

There was a circle of rain ten feet in diameter following me!

As I progressed, so did the rain.

I squinted back up into the dazzling sun; no clouds. I gawked down at the pavement. My little patch of rain was faithfully falling on and following me.

For over a mile this little ring shadowed and splashed on me.

When it finally ceased, I was cool and refreshed and only a mile from my destination.

My merciful God had answered.

It’s the kindness of God which leads people to repent.

It’s the marvels of His love which drew me to Him and away from falling back to earthly pleasures.

Sly and the Family Stone wrote a great seventies song named; “Everybody Is a Star.”

Let’s face it. Everybody wants to be a star; need to be a star.

 Everybody wants to be unique.

Everybody wants to be acknowledged.

Everybody wants to be loved.

Through an experience like this, I learned that I am a star in God’s eyes.

If I was the only one alive on earth, Jesus would have come and died for me.

I am His favorite.

I am not just His beloved, but His lovely one.

In Jesus, I am the object of all God’s love, His blessings, and His favor.

And so are you, whoever you are, and wherever you are!

You are God’s star. He is madly in love with you. He’s ever dedicated to you.

Some call God the “bloodhound of heaven”, ever chasing after and sniffing you out, even in the darkest recesses of hell so that you can be His star.

You, you, and you are His favorites!

You, and you, and you are His lovely ones!

Let Sly sing over you and know that you are God’s star today!

Everybody is a star

Who can rain, chase the dust away

Everybody wants to shine

Ooh, come out on a cloudy day

‘Til the sun that loves you proud

When the system tries to bring you down

Every hand to shine tonight

You don’t need darkness to do what you think is right

Ba pa-pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba,

ba-pa ba-pa ba ba, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Everybody is a star

I can feel it when you shine on me

I love you for who you are

Not the one you feel you need to be

Ever catch a falling star

Ain’t no stopping ’til it’s in the ground

Everybody is a star

One big circle going round and round

Walk Softly And Carry A Big Stick

Eph 3:12  In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

I look back at my thirty three years with the Lord.  Apart from the Person of Christ Jesus and the topic of love, the six things which the Spirit of God brings me back to are:

  • The Revelation of the Person of Christ.
  • The Renewing of the Mind
  • The Cross, the Death of Self, and Transformation into Christ’s Identity.
  • Faith
  • God’s Power
  • Absolute Confidence, Boldness and Authority.

I will discuss the last one.

Confidence, boldness and authority, have been the toughest scriptural concepts for me.

To walk in the confidence of faith and authority inherent in the image of Christ, are the byproducts of a renewed mind.

Mind you, a renewed mind is one which has been thoroughly brainwashed by the Word of God.

We can be bold and confident in many things that we do.  Faith also has its own confidence and boldness.

The Kingdom of the Heavens suffers from violence and only the spiritually violent access it through a continuous breakthrough anointing which shatters into every circumstance opposing itself to God, and snatches from them the treasures of God’s kingdom.

The body of Christ does not understand the concept of, or the price that it must pay to break through the obstacles in the spirit and release the bounties of God’s kingdom upon the earth.

Watchman Nee called this malady passivity or the bondage of a passive mind. This is the greatest of all diseases afflicting Christ’s body. Spiritual violence is the opposite of spiritual passivity. In such ways the global body of Christ stands presently duped.

When you learn to break into the things of the spirit world which need God’s faith with boldness and confidence, God will move you into authority.

Mt 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Authority is complete liberty of action, dominion and jurisdiction over all things to conform to God’s will. It’s doing as you please with the things which oppose God. Of course, you can only move according to the voice of the Spirit.

When we recognize that God wants us to be much more bold and confident than what we can ever dream, it dawns upon us how much authority we really have.

When Jesus was not sleeping, He was commanding, and so must the Christian.

The boldness and confidence which belongs to faith coupled with the realization that God wants us to exercise authority over all of His works, is the fulcrum, pivot or hinge for releasing all that God has.

I am of the belief that God wants to release many things to the Christian right here and right now, but we lack the boldness, confidence and authority which opens the access.

One hour of hearty faith without doubt, the boldness and confidence of a child, and the authority of God’s general, will get you more than one month of repetitive superstitious prayers. Superstitious, I say, because we have a superstition that by repeating our doubting prayers enough times God will finally hear and act.

Rev 2:26  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27  And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Rev 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Re 19:15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Psalms 2:7   I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9  Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

God’s iron rod by which you smash to shards every wrongful circumstance is the voice of the Spirit in you. Paul tells us in Ephesians that the sword of the Spirit is the rhema word, which is the voice of the Spirit. God’s voice is His sword. His sword is His rod of iron which you use to obliterate through every opposing circumstance.

If you don’t operate by God’s voice, you don’t have His sword. If you don’t have His sword, you don’t have His rod of iron. But if you do, wield that sword with the boldness of a child and the authority of a general.

Though God speaks softly in your heart, He carries a big stick.

Many who have heard my testimony knew that I was a severe stutterer into my forties.  I lost my speech because of trauma at the age of four. My life was peppered with speech therapists and psychologists. When I got married at 34, I could not repeat my wedding vows. Now I am free. Most of my speech impediment was a combination of insecurity, fear, and hurt, mixed with a healthy dosage of demonic deception.

Anyone who stutters knows only of a life dogged with panic, shame, fear, insecurity and phobias.

Ezekiel 3:6  Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

7  But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

8  Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

9  As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

10  Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

Right after I got saved in 1979, God gave me the above scriptures. It was one of the clearest Holy Spirit words ever.  What God told me was diametrically contradictory to who I was.  Me fearless! I laughed like Sarah, when God promised her a baby at 99.

Yet thirty years later I have turned out to be someone like what is described in these scriptures. All by the doing of God, in tandem to my obedience. There is hope for you dear one, if God has promised you. This prophecy took God thirty years to carry out, but He did it. Don’t give up on what He told you, only be very obedient to His commands.

Adamant is harder than diamond. Boldness, confidence and authority are located in our foreheads. When I use to stutter, I could not look anyone in the eye. If you are hurt, you look away. When you are bold and confident, you realize that you own a diamond forehead. No circumstance can make you look down. So get brainwashed with God’s word. Be bold, be confident, be doubtless, be a general who commands all things not of God.

You know that God is much bigger than the other guy, and though He walks softly through the cool of the garden with you, He carries a big stick!

Supplement One

In the Greek, verb tenses are most focused on action.

The action can be described as one of the following three.

1) Continuous (or ‘Progressive’) action.

2) Completed (or ‘Accomplished) action, with continuing and even eternal results.

3) Simple occurrence, without the notion of progress.

(This is sometimes referred to as ‘punctiliar’ action or a photograph on history’s timeline.

Punctiliar:                         Action that relates to a specific point in time. The photographic tense

Linear:                                Action that is in the progress of occurring

Perfected:                         Action that is both punctiliar and linear in nature. It can refer to action relating to a point in time, yet has results are in the progress of occurring, and can be eternal.

Present Tense

The present tense denotes a continuous kind of action. It displays action in progress and or in state of perseverance.

The imperfect tense demonstrates constant or linear action just like the present tense, but in the past. It always indicates an action constantly or repeatedly occurring in past time. It portrays the action as going on for some extended period of time in the past.

The aorist is said to be a “simple incident, event or happening” without regard for the amount of time taken to accomplish the action. This tense is also referred to as the ‘punctiliar’ tense. I call it a photographic snapshot on history’s time line.

In the indicative mood the aorist tense represents action that occurred in the past time, often translated like the English simple past tense.

Just like the English future tense, the Greek future tells about an anticipated action or a certain happening that will occur at some time in the future.

The perfect tense is a combination of the aorist and present tense. It denotes a simple action occurring in the past, but with continuing results in the present, future and maybe for eternity.

A participle is regarded as a “verbal adjective”. It is frequently a word that ends with an “-ing” in English (such as “speaking,” “having,” or “seeing”).

It can be used as an adjective, in that it can modify a noun (or substitute as a noun), or it can be used as an adverb to further explain or define the action of a verb.

The Greek infinitive is the form of the verb that is usually translated into English with the word “to” attached to it, often used to complement another verb.

It can be used to function as a noun and is therefore referred to as a “verbal noun”.

Grammatical voices in the Greek indicate whether the subject is the performer of the action of the verb (active voice), or the subject is the recipient or receiver of the action (passive voice).

Active Voice

If the subject of or in the sentence is performing the action, then the verb is referred to as being in the active voice.

Passive Voice

If the subject of the sentence is being acted upon, then the verb is referred to as being in the passive voice.

Middle Voice

The Greek middle voice shows the subject acting in his own interest or on his own behalf, or participating in the results of the verbal action. The subject in the middle voice performs the action, so it’s reflexive in the sense that he performs the action to benefit himself, or back upon himself

The feature of the grammatical “mood” of a verb has to do with the statement’s relationship to reality.

The mood deals with the fact of whether the declared statement is actual or if there is only the possibility of its actual happening.

The indicative mood is the only mood conceived of as actual while with the other three moods (imperative, subjunctive, and optative) the action is only thought of as possible or potential.

We will not deal with the optative mood in this seminar, for its occurrences are relatively rare in the NT Greek.

Indicative Mood

The indicative mood is a statement of fact or an actual occurrence from the writer’s or speaker’s perspective.

Even if the writer is lying, he may state the action as if it is a fact, and thus the verb would be in the indicative mood.

it may be action occurring in past, present, or future time.

When used in the indicative mood, the present tense denotes action taking place or going on in the present time.

Imperative Mood

The imperative mood is a command or instruction given to the hearer, commanding the hearer to carry out or perform a certain action.

Subjunctive Mood

The subjunctive mood indicates probability or objective possibility. The action of the verb will possibly happen, depending on certain objective factors or circumstances, or on a person’s free will.

It is oftentimes used in conditional statements (i.e. ‘If…then…’ clauses) or in purpose clauses.

However if the subjunctive mood is used in a purpose or result clause, then the action should not be thought of as a possible result, but should be viewed as a definite outcome that will happen as a result of another stated action.

Every verb therefore has the three components of tense, voice and mood, affectionately termed, (T.V.M)

The term “case” refers to what is called substantives. These are nouns and pronouns and adjectives (including participles).

The cases categorize their association to other elements in the sentence.

Noun cases are formed by putting the ‘stem’ of the noun with an ‘ending’.

The case form is shown by the ending of the word.

There are five different case forms in Greek.

The five cases are Nominative, Genitive, Dative, Accusative and Vocative.

Nominative Case

A noun or pronoun that is the relationship of the subject of the sentence is always in the nominative case.

Genitive Case

The genitive is most often viewed as the case of possession.

In more technical terms one noun in the genitive case helps to qualify another noun by showing its “class” or “kind”.

The genitive case has more uses than most other cases, but in general a noun in the genitive case helps to limit the scope of another noun by indicating its “kind” or “class”.

Dative Case

The dative is the case of the indirect object, or may also indicate the means by which something is done, or the sphere or location of its origin.

It is used most often in one of three general classes: Indirect object, Instrument (means), or Location (in the sphere of.)

Most commonly it is used as the indirect object of a sentence.

It may also indicate the means by which something is done or accomplished; instrumental

Used as a dative of location, it can show the “place”, “time”, or “sphere” in which something may happen.

Accusative Case

This case is aptly described by its name.

It is the case the points the finger towards something, like one who has been accused. It defines the final objective, consummation or the goal of something.

The accusative case is the case of the direct object, receiving the action of the verb.

Like the other cases, the accusative has a wide variety of uses, but its main function is as the direct object of a transitive verb.

The direct object will most often be in the accusative case.

Vocative Case

The vocative is the case of direct address. It is used when one person is speaking to another, calling out or saying their name, or generally addressing them.

God Is The God of the Grassroots

I had opportunity to go to a night of worship at my church, Doral Vineyard, yesterday.

Apart from the remarkable time of two hours of worshiped led mostly by young people, these following were my observations.

The majority of those in attendance were young people. I am talking about the twenty-five and under group.

The minority of older people, whom I know, are all young in heart.

There is no doubt that God is working restoration and revival, in the young, and in the old, whose hearts are fresh and young towards Him.

The church can no longer neglect the sweeping movement of God with young people and simply assign them to their youth groups, isolating them from so-called “adults.” This latter is part of the old wine skins which God is disposing of.

Secondly, many who were in attendance last night, I have never met.

I discovered that these people attend different churches.

This is the same grassroots movement which we witness in NY.

God is gathering “on fire” people from different churches, who step out of their demarcated church walls for corporately worshiping and seeking the Lord and then the lost.

These people are not leaving their churches, but they are departing from the routines of their specified church lives to come together for God’s greater purposes. The days of this is my church, and this is your church, if it keeps the body isolated, are over.

This grassroots movement God is causing to pop up everywhere.

Those who have ears to hear, let them do so.

Finally, my wife Mary had an apostolic word of God’s strategy for South Florida.

One of the difficulties of evangelizing Miami Dade County is that she is “the city of high walls.”

God gave me this word 17 years ago. It has proven so true.

NYC is easier to evangelize than Miami.

Many New Yorkers do not drive and are forced to get to know each other over time, in the streets.

But Miamians live in their ac homes and ac cars.

You never see them on the streets, because of humidity and heat.

They go from townhouse, to car, to job, to Starbucks, to job, to car, and back to their townhouse.

Many come from South America, either fleeing oppression, or trying to make money.

If people are not in the streets, evangelizing becomes difficult.

This is the problem of Miami.

Once again I say, that NYC is easier to evangelize than Miami.

But my wife’s word is timely and strategic.

The Lord showed her a grid of lights all over South Florida. These grids represent grass root groups like the one we had yesterday. Folks from different churches who are coming together for the express purpose of loving the Lord and seeking His face.

Wherever these groups were coming together on the grid of S Florida, God was digging wells. There came a time when these wells overflowed.

In a flood, everything that is standing is washed away, and every high wall that people in Miami have built to protect themselves, will be washed away.

I find this to be one of the most important words of God’s strategy ever given to Florida, for it involves, not one man, or one church, but the body of Christ, which is precisely what God is doing, globally.

Let us catch God’s fast train into revival land, and not be left at the train stations of our isolated church ghetto routines.
