Twenty truths, half truths and lies about evangelism!

Wynwood

Awesome evangelism team with Wynwood Church, Miami, at the Wynwood Art Walk

Not all places are equal when it comes to evangelism. Nyack, New York is one of the more conducive places because of the relational slow moving aspect of the city. New York’s changes of seasons attracts many to the outdoors.
On the other hand. Miami, Florida is one of the most difficult. The generic uncultural structure of the city combined with its eternal summers, drives people into their air conditioned homes, autos and Starbucks.  But yet, God has a strategy for every place.
1.    My evangelistic passions arise in New York and wane in Miami. So will yours according to locations.
2.    Yet, the thread is that people are people wherever one lives. We share the same fears, joys, hopes and disappointments.
3.    People are looking for people, who truly care, who will listen to their story, get into their lives, and counsel them with wisdom and the spirit of father or motherhood.
4.    I find very little difference between the churched and unchurched.
5.    I find that I minister to people in the just about the same way in the church as I do outside.
6.    I find that Jesus Christ easily brings church into the market place, and that the church should never be confined to the walls of a building.
7.    I find that the holiness and sanctity of God is felt as strong with the dingiest people on the streets as it is in a glorious worship service.
8.    I feel more bored inside a church than I feel outside of it.
9.    I see God more enthusiastically moving outside of church than inside.
10.    People outside of church are as excited to receive a word of prophecy as those inside.
11.    The enemy of the church is not the world. It’s not an us versus them clash. There is not a deep dark witchcraft world that we must spend hours bounding and rebuking in the safety of the church walls. That’s a cop out. The greatest warfare is going into the marketplace to shine your light that darkness will not contain.
12.    The church for many has become a ghetto. Get out of your ghetto. There is a big world to explore.
13.    I see evangelistic opportunities called “visitors” that God brings to church on Sundays  and which most church goers will miss because of selfishness, fear, and passivity
14.    I was a severe stutterer for forty years bounded by panic and fear. If I can talk to people on the streets, so can you. Practice makes perfect.
15.    In Nyack, the best evangelism is called coffee evangelism. I grab a cup of coffee, sit and wait for God to move. What is God’s strategy where you live? He must have one!
16.    If you sincerely get into people’s lives to love and serve them, even the atheist will hear you.
17.    Someone suggested the best name for a Christian coffee house, “The Listening Ear.”  What a concept!
18.     God’s river is flowing through every city. The key is to find it and flow in it.
19.    In evangelism, the key is your will. We must adopt the Nike slogan, “just do it.”
20.     We pray for revival, but its here. God has heard our prayers. But without your co cooperation in His marketplace, your prayers will remain prayers prayed in the ghettos of your churches.

God Answers The Atheist

I recently got into a conversation with a gentleman who is was a deep agnostic bordering on atheism.

He was a mathematics professor in a university.

I asked him, what it would take for him to believe. He told me that God, or if there is a God, would have to show him concrete and tangible proof of Himself.

We had been having Holy Ghost meetings. To my surprise, this man not only came to the meeting, but hung out with us way before the meeting began.

Jesus never chased anybody who did not want Him. Neither do I.

From the commencement of the meeting God came in with a tremendous bang of healing power.  In a matter of minutes many were on the floor visibly “under the influence” of God’s sweet love, if you know what I mean.

I prayed for everybody, except this man, wishing to respect his atheist’s views.

My beloved wife Mary touched me on the shoulder and asked me, “Are you not going to pray for him?”  I fumbled and said to her, “Oh, I did not think that he wanted prayer.”

I turned to the gentleman and asked, “Do you want me to pray for you?”  “Yes”, he told me.

I lifted him up from his chair and extended my hand toward him, being careful not to touch him.

The visible glory of God came upon this man as he stood with eyes closed. For almost ten minutes he stood there with his eyes shut.  I prayed, “Lord, give him the undisputable concrete proof of You that he needs! “I moved on to the next person but kept on glancing towards him. When he opened them, and his and mine met, he had a big smile on his face. What occurred, I have no idea.

Ten minutes later I had healing line of four people.  As I prayed, the man at the end of the line about 10 feet away, suddenly collapsed under the power of God with no one to catch him.

My atheist friend who had been comfortably sitting, lunged from the couch in a desperate effort to catch him. He caught the man and both fell on the floor with the man squarely on top of my atheist friend, in one big heap.

My atheist friend looked at me sprawled on the ground, a body on top of him. He had a big grin on his face.

I do not know if this was his concrete proof or not. Surely God is great and has a great sense of humor, though.

God Uses An Atheist As A Prophet To The Church

1Sa 17:24 And when they saw the man, all the men of Israel ran from him, and

1Sa 17:26 And David spoke to the men who were standing with him, saying, What shall be done to the man who strikes this Philistine, and turns aside reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should reproach the armies of the living God?

1Sa 17:34 And David said to Saul, Your servant has been one shepherding among sheep for his father. And the lion came, and the bear, and took away a sheep out of the flock.

1Sa 17:35 And I went out after him and struck him, and delivered out of his mouth. And he rose against me, and I took hold of his beard and struck him, and killed him.

1Sa 17:36 Your servant has struck both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, for he has reproached the armies of the living God.

1Sa 17:37 And David said, Jehovah, who has delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He shall deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and Jehovah be with you.

1Sa 17:44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the heavens and to the beasts of the field.

1Sa 17:45 And David said to the Philistine, You are coming to me with sword, and with spear, and with javelin. But I am coming to you in the name of Jehovah of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, which you have reproached.

1Sa 17:46 This day Jehovah shall shut you up into my hand, and I shall strike you, and take off your head from you and give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the heavens and to the living things of the earth this day. And all the earth shall know that there is a God for Israel.

1Sa 17:47 And all this company shall know that Jehovah does not save by sword and by spear, but that the battle belongs to Jehovah, and He has given you into our hand.

1Sa 17:48 And it happened, when the Philistine rising up and going and drawing near to meet David, David hurried and ran toward the ranks to meet the Philistine.

1Sa 17:49 And David put his hand into the pouch and took a stone from there. And he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

1Sa 17:50 And David was stronger than the Philistine with the sling and with the stone. And he struck the Philistine and caused him to die. And there was no sword in David’s hand.

1Sa 17:51 And David ran and stood by the Philistine, and took his sword; and he drew it out of its sheath and caused him to die. And he cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their warrior was dead, and they fled.

A sign of God’s leader is one that when a nation cowers in complacency, passivity, fear, and apathy, God will find him or her ready to fulfill His purposes.

He will use His leader to deliver the nation and draw it back to Him.

It’s a tragedy that God can only find a few when the need arises.

There should be many in the body of Christ, but alas, it’s not the case.

Yet, God will not be short circuited.

He always reserves to Himself, those few, and works through them a mighty work.

God’s leader will allow God to perfect him.

He will repent of everything that God tells him to, and make himself ready for the great task at hand.

He will place himself in a place that through this repentance, can get the victory and breakthrough in everything, and thus make himself available to be God’s man or woman of the hour.

He will not wait for others to respond, for they may all be stuck in the apathy and complacency of Face book and technological entertainment.

Others are worshiping  America’s golden calf, Comfort!

A mark of God’s leader is one who gets sick and tired of the devil mocking the nation, God, and the righteous ways of life, that he is stirred to do what must  be done for the glory of God.

He realizes that if it’s only him, he will step out to help deliver the country, in Jesus Name.

I think that many in the body of Christ resist the move of the Spirit.

Pastors spend much time and resources ministering to them.

Lord, always send me to those who want the move of the Spirit.

God will turn to the young generation to carry out His work, if us the older one remain as spiritual fuddie duddies stuck behind the walls of our Christian ghettos.

I will not be left behind. I will be a father to this new generation.

God is looking for the nameless and faceless Davids who will deliver America from the demonic Goliaths who mock it. Where are they?

“The best answer we have to America’s ills can only be found in God.

And the best answer within the realm of God is a revival and awakening back to Him, where men’s and women’s blind spiritual eyes can see and they can pull out of the mess which the devil deceived them into.

And God is ready to spark revivals through nameless and faceless Christians all around the world, if they are ready to do anything and everything for Him.

The world is not against God, they are against religion.

Christians think that it’s an us against them war but it’s not.

Everybody loves to see power and glory, whom God is the author of.

Everybody wants to have a good time, whom God is the author of.

Everybody wants to have some fun and laugh, whom God is the author of.

Religion has made God into an old prune. He is quite the opposite.

Pure love, whom God is, can only dwell in joy, happiness and good times.

Isn’t that what people are looking for?

God uses the normal Joe and Jane equally to a Reinhart Bonkhe or a Billy Graham.

The church not only focus on them, but say, God send me, here am I.’

Straining Out The Unconstitutional Gnat To Swallow the Unconstitutional Camel.

Matt 23: 24  Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

The brouhaha  with the constitutionality or lack thereof of government initiated prayer or religious symbols on government property made me think.

It’s amusing that those who raise up this stink only have a constitutional problem with the things of God.

What about the unconstitutionality of government officials lying under oath?

And the unconstitutionality of scandals, or penalizing the exempt status of conservative groups, based on doctrinal differences with the government?

What about the unconstitutionality of Benghazi, or Fast and Furious?

Or  the  unconstitutionality of taking private donations to fund Obama care?

Or the unconstitutionality of news organizations being wire tapped?

Where is their voice then?

If  they are so focused on guarding the constitutionality of our Constitution, they should be the vanguard of these bigger issues. I never hear them complain about the corruption, lies, or scandal plaguing our government.

Matt 23:23  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Well said it Jesus. These folk deliberate  the conflict with prayer and omit the weightier matters which encroach  our Constitution.

The one thing that can fix the scandals and lies is changed hearts by repentance to God. Yet this is the thing that they attack as unconstitutional.

Matt 23:25  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

26  Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, which the outside of them may be clean also.

These folks want the veneer of  clean separation of church and state to adorn the outside of the government cup and platter, while winking at the  extortion and excesses within them.

They  don’t care about unconstitutionality.

If they did, they would be in pandemonium with all the unconstitutionalities being perpetrated.

But no, the issue is not unconstitutionality.

It goes deeper.

There are unfortunate experiences with a church, pastor, or parent , which has caused wounds so deep that now it must be projected upon the rest of us.

It’s not their civil rights, but ours, which they try to silence.

These folks need to come to the very God whom they try to make unconstitutional.

He is the only one who can set them free.

Matt 23: 24  Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Amen to Jesus!

These people strain out the gnat of  unconstitutional government led prayer, while swallowing the unconstitutional camel of scandals, deceit and extortion.

This is not only hypocrisy, but ulterior intentions and motives with agenda, many times, political.

If you want to talk to me about the unconstitutionality of public prayer let me see you take charge of the unconstitutionality of these weightier problems.

You say that the Constitution is of great importance  to you?

Let me see it first with the matters of corruption before the matters of the One who can set us free from them.

It seems like you have things backwards, my friend.

I am sorry to say, if you are not willing to tackle the bigger constitutional issues, while attacking prayer and religious symbols, I am not very much interested in talking to you.

Blessings
