An Angel Standing in the Sun

Re 19:17  Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the great supper of God,

How powerful is the sun?

In Revelations an angel is standing in it.

Hebrews 1:13  But of which of the angels has he said at any time, Take your seat at my right hand till I put all those who are against you under your feet?

The Christian is given a seat with Christ on His throne at his right hand.

Angels do not have this honor!

Who is ultimately more powerful, they or us?

 Philippians 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

The power belonging to a resurrection life which will last forever is greater than the power of the sun, which one day dies.

God will remove both sun and moon and His glory will be left.

Paul’s pursuit was to know the Christ in him experientially and progressively.

Secondly, was his quest to know the power belonging to Christ’s resurrection experientially and progressively.

This amazing power is gradually revealed as we obey.

It’s not what we do, but what Christ does through us.

It’s our observation of God’s resurrection power at work in us that is key to victory.

Someday our knowledge of this power will allow us to stand in the sun if it’s still there.

How much power do you have in you? Is it enough to stand in the sun?

Make it your goal to progressively and experientially know Christ’s resurrection power.

This is no easy task.

It takes time with Jesus.

Yet, very few things matter as much.

What Is The Right Way of Saying the Lords Prayer?

The Lord’s Prayer in the original Greek is full of commands
I feel that when Jesus gave us the prayer, His desire was for us to use it with the authority that He gave us, and bring results, not only in our lives, but with circumstances which surround us.
None of us understand the immense authority that Christ has given to the church.
How can you use the Lord’s Prayer today?
How can you use it in global situations such as Venezuela?
I hope this helps.

Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

  • I command that your name be established and held in honor on earth exactly in the same way, measure, and manner as it is held in heaven.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

  • Come thy kingdom! ( THIS IS A COMMAND!)
  • Done be thy will! (THIS IS A COMMAND!)
  • Exactly in the same measure and manner that your kingdom is manifested and your will is executed in heaven, so be it done upon the earth.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

  • We command that the bread of our necessity, or the bread that suffices for the day, be given to us today.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

  • And release or dismiss from us our debts in the same measure that we release and dismiss our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

  • And lead us not into a place where we can be tempted beyond our strength causing us to do what is evil.

The Healthyness Of God’s Word

The Word of God

I Tim 1:3  As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

Doctrine that deviates from the truth because its essence, quality, and quantity comes from another source, which is not founded on the words that make up the gospel.

We see this today in many ways.

2 Timothy 1:13  Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Hold fast to the model of healthy or wholesome words, which thou hast heard from me.

Sound is a medical term denoting health. Only the pure words of the gospel can promote health, to our spirits, soul and body.

The word form talks about a pattern that is created by striking a blow to generate a sketch or outline.

Some of us can remember building a model car or airplane. Once we had the model built we mounted it up high on a shelf for all to see.  We must likewise have the Word of God as one of the primary models in our lives mounted high before our eyes. This model of the gospel must be built out of something that is called sound words.

“Sound words” is a medical term that means healthy or wholesome. Sound words are healthy because they are true or are in accordance with what is factual about the Word of God.

It is impossible for us to build a model of healthy words that we can frame before our eyes to unless we know the Word of God in truth or in accordance to fact. To know the Word of God in fact implies that we must do some serious study of the Word before we can truly know it in truth.

Titus 2:7  In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

Incorruptness: Our knowledge of the Word of God must be so thorough that our teaching cannot be subject to the decay of time, error, or the opposition that comes from those who challenge our teaching.  When we live in accordance to a model of God’s incorrupt doctrine, our doctrine will finally vindicate us even if the world says that we are wrong.

The Lord will lift us up and put those who oppose us to shame.

Incorruptness must stand the test of eternity in that an incorrupt nature cannot be subject to decay. Our knowledge and obedience to the Word of God will have an everlasting impact on our lives.  Let us look at the following scripture;

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Greek: All scripture; “every scripture.”

We either believe that every scripture in the Bible is breathed by the inspiration of God, or we don’t. If we selectively take parts of the Bible as not from God, we might as well not believe anything in the Bible.  How can we be the judge of what is myth and what is reality? I would say, don’t believe the Bible at all if you will be selective in your beliefs about it.

Inspiration: All scripture is God breathed and is therefore profitable for teaching

Reproof:  Intimate knowledge of the scriptures brings correction to us by exposing sin and blind spots in our life. If we heed to the exposure brought to us through the Word it will brings us freedom in Christ.

Correction: Correction means to be restored to an upright state resulting in salvation.  This comes from the word orthos from where our word orthodontist comes from. Correction means to build up once again in an upright fashion.

Do you notice the order?  Reproof brings exposure of sin.  If we heed we start to become free. As we become free the Word of God then starts to restore us to an upright state.

Instruction:  Mentoring and discipling and the final release into our ministry.  Instruction comes from the word which means to train children. We must become as children with gospel.

Exposure, restoration, mentoring, and call to ministry.

17  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Greek: The man or woman of God becomes thoroughly equipped and furnished by the Word of God for every Spirit led work; The man or woman of God is equipped and fitted with every necessary piece of equipment by the Word of God for anything that the Lord might have for him or her require to do. Without the knowledge of the Word that cannot be so.

When we went to battle Sadam Hussein in the Persian Gulf in great part we won because we were thoroughly equipped with the best of arms, technique, and staff.  It is our deep knowledge of God’s Word that furnishes us with the spiritual equipment necessary to successfully carry out God’s holy missions.

1Tim2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto(INTO) the knowledge (EPIGNOSIN or FULL KNOWLEDGE) of the truth.

Philemon 1:6  That the communication (fellowship) of thy faith may become effectual (ENERGES or ENERGIZED) by the acknowledging (FULL KNOWLEDGE) of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

John 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Jesus tells us is the truth shall free us in the exact proportion to the correct understanding and performance that we have of it. Our misunderstanding of scriptures through error, cultural or political correct adaptation of them, a lack of meditation or study, will not free us. It is the revelation knowledge by the Spirit of God and our application of it that frees us. It’s not the truth that sets us free but the accurate knowledge of the truth.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Greek: In the beginning was the logos, and the logos was in fellowship and communion with God, and God was the logos.

With God: Not that Jesus was with God as one who was next or along Him, but as one that is with God because He lives in continual fellowship and communion with Him.

The word was God. More correctly, “God was the logos”.  Jesus, as God the Son, is first found in an eternal and continual communion with God the Father, so He can then come to mankind as the logos word, which translated and interpreted to us the conceptuality of the Father.

John 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.

This one was from all eternity is in constant communion and fellowship with God. (John repeats the theme of verse one to emphasize the complete sufficiency of Jesus to assume the role of “God, the logos word” to humanity.

The word of God is comprised of the logos and the rhema word.  Both are essential in furnishing us with the fullness of God’s knowledge and will, both as individual believers and corporately in our churches.  The logos word defines God in general concepts and ideas to give us the “big picture” of who God is.

The rhema word is a moment-to-moment portion of the logos word uttered by the voice of God’s Spirit and “tailor made” to equip us with God’s commands, guidance, and the fulfillment of our needs in accordance to our specific circumstances.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the LOGOS (word), and the LOGOS(word) was with God, and the LOGOS(word) was God.

Matthew 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every RHEMA that proceedeth( from moment to moment) out of the mouth of God.

 The Believer as God’s Land

Luke 17:20  And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Luke 17:21  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

In the OT God desired to have a land, in this case Canaan from which His kingdom could operate. Joshua’s commission was to drive out the wickes inhabitants of the land so that the land of Canaan could be cleared and the uncontested rule of God could take place.

1 John 5:19  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

The whole world system is lies or is set in the wicked one.

Today, God does not have a land from where His kingdom’s works can be launched.  The believer is His land.  In proportion to how free the believer is, defines the success of God’s kingdom.

The Great Purpose of the Church

The church is the most important human institution in the universe. It is the institution which God has created to make Him visible.  This is the why God implemented it in the first place. He has none else.

The church’s most important job is to bring forth the glory of the Lord into all the earth, and throughout all eternity.

Ephesians 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Glory is defined as the end product of the invisible God becoming visible. The Lord accomplishes this through His Word, His attributes, and righteous deeds.

Isaiah 40:5  And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The glory of God is of supreme importance.  Through it, men are ushered into eternal salvation, physical healings take place, people are set free from demonic oppression, spiritual gifts are displayed, and revival of cities and nations that ultimately change civilization are started and carried out.

Mark 6:56  ..and as many as touched him were made whole.

Civilization’s most essential need, and its most desperate need, is to be capable of beholding an invisible God, who desires to make Himself plainly evident, through Jesus Christ in His glory.

The key to all humanity’s needs, past, present, and future, lie locked in the Person of Christ.  To the proportion that the invisible Christ becomes visible to mankind by His glory, is to the exact proportion that all of mankind’s needs will be met and answered forever.

The church of Jesus Christ is GOD’S ONLY UNIVERSAL HUMAN INSTRUMENT, which can make Him visible.  Aside from His glory as seen in creation, God has made for Himself no other avenue that will allow Him to become visible in a real, personal and intimate way to people.

The Dividing Asunder Between Soul and Spirit: Understanding the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

John 1:33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with (Greek case of location: into the domain, world, and sphere of) the Holy Ghost.

I once read an excellent example of Biblical baptism.  In the days of Christ there was a recipe to create a “pickled” vegetable.  It was said that a vegetable was BAPTISED into THE LOCATION or SPHERE of a vinegar solution.  After a while, the vinegar WORKED INSTRUMENTALLY BACK through the vegetable and “pickled” it.

Tofu, likewise, acquires the taste and texture of any food that it is baptized into.  We can say that with whatever food the tofu is BAPTISED INTO, it is INSTRUMENTALLY influenced back by that food to make the tofu like it.

Gal 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ( submerged into the domain, sphere, or world of Christ’s influence and sovereignty ) have put on Christ (now wear Christ, whom as clothes which totally cover us, influences and affects back through us to conform us into His image.)

John 14:20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, ( Jesus lives continually in the domain of the Father’s world  and ye in me( We must be therefore located in the domain of Christ’s world), and I in you.(So that Christ can instrumentality work back through us, by pervading, influencing, and affecting.)

Gal 5:25  If we live in ( Instrumental (By)) in the Spirit, let us also walk (Greek word which is defined as “marching in the footsteps of a soldier”) in (Instrumental (By)) the Spirit.

Greek paraphrase) (It is a given that we should be living our lives not in the present day world system, but in the domain, influence, and sovereignty of the world of the Holy Spirit. Because we are being continually affected and influenced by the Spirit, in that influence and effect we must march in step as soldiers so that the Spirit’s influence can go on, deepen, intensify, and continue interrupted.

In the gospel of John we find several instances where the Lord Jesus tells us that we are not of this world system.

In Galatians five and twenty-five, we then see the apostle Paul telling us that it is a given that we should be living in the world of the Spirit.  In Galatians five and twenty-five we find a wonderful example of location and instrumentality.  We live in the world of the Holy Spirit, and must march as a soldier in step to the Spirit’s workings back through us as He instrumentally influences and affect us.

Paul exhorts us to live continually in the world of the Holy Spirit, so that every action of our lives becomes permeated, influenced, affected, and controlled by the work, power, strength, and liberty of the Holy Spirit.

Victory and liberty in the Lord is found in proportion to how much the Spirit can control and take over our every action.  Victory is not found in our trying to overcome. It is found in our being submerged deep enough into the world of the Holy Spirit so that He can influence and affect us at ever point.  We are filled with the Spirit, in proportion to how much the Spirit is working back through us to influence, affect, control, and overtake our every action of ours.

Paul tells us in Galatians five and twenty-five that our lives must be lived BY THE INSTRUMENTALITY of the Spirit’s actions.

Gal 5:16  This I say then, Walk( The totality of our daily activities and the way that we conduct ourselves in them) in the Spirit) (Instrumental (BY), and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (Greek double negative: and it will be impossible for you to fulfill the flesh’s strong desire through act of your will

Let us now look at Galatians five and sixteen. The Greek word for “walk” is the total of our daily affairs, and the ways in which conduct ourselves in them.

Paul commands us TO BAPTISE every affair in our daily life into the world of the Holy Spirit so that the Spirit through His instrumentality can affect, influence, reconcile, control, and overtake every one of those affairs.

THEN, AND ONLY THEN, shall we not fulfill the lusts of the flesh!!

2 Cor 3:17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,(Location: sphere or domain)  there is liberty.

Greek: There, where the Spirit is, and ONLY within the domain and influence of the Spirit, EXCLUSIVE OF ANYTHING OTHER LOCATIONS, DOMAINS, OR SOVEREIGNTIES, is there liberty.

Two Corinthians three and seventeen tells us that only inside the world of the Spirit will we find liberty, which is the result of the availability of all things now in the state reconciliation.

John 6:28  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God (The Father works His works back through the disciples, as He affects and influences them in proportion to how much he or she submerges into the world of the Spirit.), that ye believe on him (Greek “INTO”; location, domain, submerging into) whom he hath sent.

1 Cor 2:17  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.(prophetical speech must be done in the domain or sphere of the Spirit.)

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled (by being baptized into the world of the Holy Ghost) with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak( not just the content of what is being said, but mainly the utterances or the expressions used) with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them(The instrumentality of the Spirit now working back through them as they were “located and filled inside the domain of the Spirit”, to give them prophetic utterance) utterance. (The language of prophets, ecstatic speech, miraculous verbal impulses, the oracles of seers)

The Holy Spirit not only gives to us, the content of our speech, but the expressions and utterances used to manifest it.  The deeper our lives are in the realm of the Spirit, the clearer will the content of what we must speak prophetically, and the stronger will be the verbal expressions and utterances through which it is manifested.

The prophetic flow of speech, or what the Old Testament calls prophesying the oracles of the Lord, is a flow of God’s speech, which bubbles up in our spirits. As we are filled with the Spirit of God, the bubbling of God’s speech, which rides on the surface of the waters of the Spirit, as He progressively fills us up with them, arises higher and higher upon these rising waters until it reaches the level of our mouths and flows out.

John 12:49  For I have not spoken of myself ( LOCATION: (Jesus is located within, or submerged into the Father) I absolutely have not uttered anything from my independent and exclusive self); but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment (The instrumentality of the Father working back through Jesus), what I should say, and what I should speak. (So permeated Jesus the Father, as to give to Him both the utterances and expressions of speech, and the content of the speech carried by them)

John 8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he ( I am) , and that I do nothing of myself (and that from my independent and exclusive self I do nothing); but as my Father hath taught me( but as the Father has instrumentally penetrated, affected, and influenced me) I speak these things (these things I utter and express prophetically, by that divine influence which has permeated me.)

1 Cor 12:8  For to one is given through the Spirit ( Agency)  the (A)  word of wisdom; and to another the ( A)  word of knowledge, according( reference, respect to, or in relationship) to the same Spirit:

A word of knowledge, or wisdom, is a mode of prophecy. The King James is incorrect in calling it “the” word of wisdom or knowledge.  It should be “a” word of wisdom or knowledge.  In other words, the word (of wisdom and knowledge), which is given to us by the Spirit of God, is a type of word, which has a “wisdom or knowledge content”, exclusively of being made up of any other contents. Because it is one specific logos word, with a specific content, it is in fact a rhema word.

Mat 8:8  The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only  By a word, or by the instrumentality of a word.  The word itself healed the servant), and my servant shall be healed.

Herein we see the power of the world of the Spirit.  The Greek tells us, “speak by a logos word,” not the logos word, but “a” logos word, making it into a specific word with a content of healing, or a rhema word.

“By” a logos word” tells us that it is the word itself influencing and affecting the situation, causes the healing.  Jesus did not heal the servant.  The rhema word of God working through Jesus is the one, which healed.  Jesus’ life was so submerged in the Spirit of God, that He lived in the domain of supernatural faith found within this world.  Secondly, He lived in the world in which all is new and reconciled to God, and all is available.  The faith released through Him inside the word that He spoke, caused the word itself to heal the servant.

Let us look at a few more examples the rhema word, tempered or beat in every instance with an equal measure of faith as found in the domain of the Spirit, to create a “word” itself which heals, or casts out a demon.

Matthew 8:16  When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word (By the instrumentality of the word; Jesus did not cast out the devils, but the word of God operating in Him), and healed all that were sick:

Luke 4:32  And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with (Instrumental)  power.(His word had the “instrumentality of authority”; The word itself, in the domain of the Spirit, exercises God’s jurisdiction over the works of the enemy in the same way that a state trooper exercises jurisdiction over the interstate highways.

Luke 7:7  Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word( By a word or by the instrumentality of a word. The word itself healed the servant), and my servant shall be healed.

Luke 11:20  But if I with the finger of God(By the instrumentality of the Spirit; Jesus did not cast out the devils. The rhema word originated in the Spirit and operating through Jesus, cast out the devil) cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

John 5:16  And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day

John 5:17  But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto ( My Father never ceases working in the Spirit) and I work.(and I work externally, using exactly the same procedures and in exactly the same manner in which I see instinctively the Father working within me.)

Worketh   is defined in exactly the same way that a company strives to be successful in producing the services for which it is in business for.

Hitherto: Until now. My Father has been continually at work, producing the services that pertain to the business of the kingdom of God in an unbroken flow, right through all of your Sabbaths; and even now as we speak, He works.

And I work:  I, in like manner.

This is a tremendously important point of instruction for ministers who want to work in the Spirit.

Jesus tells us that we are to work out into the world, what the Father works into us with exactly the same intentions, intensity, and ways used by the Father. Our ministry must be a carbon copy of the Father’s ministry in us.  Remember that every work of the Father is translated into a rhema word that we can understand.

Can A Culturally Relevant Disciple of Jesus Exist In 2013?

The culture might change, but people and God remain the same.

Mat 10:39  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

  • He that comes upon, hits upon, and holds on to his own selfish life for his selfish gain, shall bring himself to ruin, destruction, uselessness and misery through his corrupted self.  He that ruins, destroys, and wastes away his sinful existence for the sake of the Lord shall discover, recognize, acquire and real life from the Lord for himself.

Matthew 16:24  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 26:34  Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

  • We see that Jesus commands His disciples to “Follow Him” in the above scripture. This is defined as a  union in traveling the same road.  It is an oneness with the pattern of Jesus’ life, His ministry, and even of His death, if necessary
  • Look at the illustration of Peter’s denial of Jesus in comparison to Jesus’ command to deny ourselves.  As you will notice, it is exactly the same word!  Can you imagine how vehemently Peter with every fiber and atom in his body angrily disavowed that he knew, or had any relationship with the Master?  This should be our same attitude in denying ourselves for the sake of our Lord?

Mark 1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send (apostolic sending) my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

  • Which shall prepare: Literally who will lay down all the needed gear, utensils and equipment at another’s disposal.”

1 John 2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

  • First John two and fifteen is an example of what I call a “proportional scripture.”  In other words, to the proportion that the love for the things of this world fills the limited space of our heart, is to the same proportion that the love of God has no more room within that limited space, and must leave.

1Cor 9:24  Know ye not that they which run (to run and spend my strength in attaining to something) in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.(to possess and make my own).

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery (the agony of athletic competition) is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

  • Our Christian lives should abide in the exhilarating agony of strenuous athletic discipline.  If we are experiencing boredom as believers, we are missing out on part of Christ’s destiny for us.  Every great work of God has been executed on bended knees.  Every great work of God takes between one to five hours of prayer daily

26 therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

  • Our faith must contain a clear perception of God’s vision for our lives.  “Without a vision the people perish.” We must not walk obscurely, as those who do not know the voice of God.  We must not trash the air aimlessly with those things that Christ has not called us to, no matter how noble or praiseworthy they might be.  Our time must not be wasted by the missed discernment of God’s will; too much is at stake!  Our punch must be sure; we must strike straight and not spare.

27 But I keep under my body (To beat the body black and blue, or get a black eye), and bring it into subjection(make my body a slave to the Spirit of God) lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. (a reject , reprobate, and one who failed the test that God put before them.)

  • The love of God and the love of the world are opposed to each other.  Either you love one or love the other.  What the world values, Christ abhors.  What the worldly man esteems as of great value Christ says, “get the behind me Satan!”

1Cor15:10  But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured (To labor with strenuous zeal, to the point of exhaustion) more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

  • “Spiritual burn out” is always inadmissible.  It is the product of all labors for the Lord initiated by us, and not the Holy Spirit.  Yet our lives should be consumed with the Lord and His work.

Philippians  3:13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

  • Therefore I neglect and no longer care for what is behind me. I stretch myself out and towards, and run swiftly after what is before me. The direction being, the mark of the goal of the high price of unbroken fellowship of Christ’s resurrection life, and the hope of His calling for me.

1 Tim 1:12  And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

  • Greek: I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who endued me with His power (only as He found me dependable.) The gift of His power was given to me as He found me worthy of trust. Once that the trust and power were there God placed me into my ministry.

1 Tim 4:14  Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

  • Greek: Do not become careless about the spiritual gift, which was given to you by (the Holy Spirit) through prophecy and the laying of hands.

15  Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

  • Meditate- Care for, attend to, and keep practicing “the things that we have discussed”
  •  Give thyself wholly to them – Literally “to become one with them”.
  •  Paul tell us throw ourselves fully, or become submerged and consumed with the things that lead to godliness, purity, charity, spiritual gifts, and so forth.
  •  That thy profiting   Literally “pioneers cutting a way for an army”
  • Every Christian is called to a blaze a new pioneer trail, through which the Lord can effectively travel, in accordance with their unique calling. There are now pew sitters, and no room for mediocrity in God’s kingdom.
  •  May appear to all  – Will become evident to all.

16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

  • Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine Fasten your attentions to, observe, and attend to yourself first, and to your doctrine second. This doctrine is what you teach. It must be in accordance with the truth of the scriptures and your life must line up with it.

Continue in them – Be sure to remain in these things!

Our provisions when we go to teach in Maasai Land, East Africa

Mary preaching in a church in Kibera Town, Kenya. Kibera is the second largest slum in Africa.

Will It Be God’s Power or Harry Potter’s Magic?

This entry is re post! of an event in 2011.

I continue my qualm with those who believe that spiritual gifts are not for today.

Or with who say that God’s power is offensive to the seeker and even apologize for it.

Yesterday, Heartbeat of Miami hosted a youth event at our church.

“Sex, Truth, Lies behind the Scenes,” was a hard-hitting intro to the dangers of premarital sex and abortion. As a pastor, I was thrilled to see more than two hundred people in attendance, most of them teens and young adults.

After the altar call, many came up for prayer. I ended up ministering to about 12 kids. The majority, though attending churches, had never been met by God’s amazing power.

It is my habit to do my best not to touch anybody. I certainly am very sensitive about being faulted with pushing people down.

I love to see God do His work, without my help. If I do touch, its slight, so that there can be a point of transmission.

One boy, crumbled to the floor weeping as the Holy Spirit overwhelmed him. It was breath taking.

A sixteen year old girl, shaking like a caterpillar in an earthquake, was magically  pulled down,  “Hey, what’s going on…what happened?”, she exclaimed!

Another teen ogling at the kids falling out ran to me. ”Hey, I want to fall.”

Shaking like a leaf on a windy day, she slumped into the arms of a friend.

I asked, “Do you want more?” “Yeah”, she said, eyes and mouth wide opened.

Then there were two young ladies, staggering backwards by God’s power, never touched by me. Perplexed and amazed, big grins on their faces, they hugged me. I asked if they had ever experienced “The Power.” Both said no.

My night concluded with a girl who wants to be a lawyer. God read her mail through my prophecies. I shook her hand, but she had questions and would not leave.

“How are you so in touch with the Holy Spirit that you can stretch out your hand and people fall?” She asked. “How do you do that?” She was so hungry.

I told her that in part, it comes by revelation knowledge of God’s word as you study it.

I detailed  how God had taught me NT Greek and the importance of using the Strong’s Concordance. Then, to my surprise, she said that she had seen a Strong’s Concordance.

I located a copy in the church, sat down and taught her how to use it. At that instance her dad came. I taught him too!  Both were grateful and amazed.

We, as pastors, do a disservice in prohibiting God’s glory into our services.

Kids everywhere are hungry for the supernatural. Church and unchurched alike! Everybody is looking for the glory. Everybody is looking for the power.

We are going to have to make a choice. We will either gain this generation to God’s glory as God pleasers, or lose them to the magic of Harry Potter as men pleasers.  Either way they will go to where the power is.

Let’s face it. Church without it, can be downright boring.
