The Feisty Jesus!

Stories from our ministry trip to NY in June 2014

We engaged a woman close to eighty in conversation
She was opinionated and feisty.
We were at odds even in our political views which she pulled out of a hesitant me.
She asked whom I had voted for in 2012
It was evident that she had desired the other one to win and shunned the candidates whom I had considered the lesser of political evils.
I said, “I think that the only hope is our coming back to God.”
At that she balked and laughed. “Oh religion!”, “You are not trying to push that on people?” “Let everyone live their lives!”
I told her that I was not. “Proselytizing, converting and debating does not work, “I replied.
So we sparred in a very cordial way.
Jesus’s spunkiness and feistiness were greater than hers.
I told her that I had been on drugs and drinking years back, which she had difficulty in believing.
She asked, ‘well how did you leave that behind?”
I told her that God had changed my desires.
“Oh don’t give God the credit, you did it yourself! “She snapped.
I looked at her and nicely replied, “I do give God the credit!”
She did not have much to say at this point.
All in all it was a delightful conversation, spiced with hearty jabs and anti-jabs.
Departing and shaking hands, the octarian looked at us saying “You are both very nice people.”
Though we were on opposing sides and though she did does not attribute the importance to Jesus which I do, what was present was the lovely Person of Jesus.
For many who are at odds with Christianity, the presence of Jesus is very attractive.
have met few who are not drawn to Him, though they may not realize it.
This Jesus had been the witty, spunky and feisty Jesus.
Jesus, the God and friend to all men and women.
He is the Jesus for all seasons.

The Faith Equation

To function in God’s faith equation to heal, three factors are required.

These factors must be equal to one another, operate simultaneously, and be identical in proportions.

 # 1 Faith in the supernatural power of God which has the ability to heal.

 # 2 Faith in the supernatural love of God for me. This love transcends any love which I can muster.

# 3  Faith in the supernatural willingness of God to heal. God always desires to heal.

My experience is that if I am not healed there is an area of sin, rejection, woundedness or generational sins that God wants to expose and deal with.

After these things are taken care of, my inability to see a healing comes from doubting God’s supernatural power, love, or willingness to.

 # 4 I believe that when these three elements operate in equal parts immediacy of results occur.

Disagreement VS Relationship

There is nothing as destructive as to break off relationships with loved ones because of disagreements. You can agree to disagree. Disagreement done in love does not constitute rejection. But to allow disagreements to bring you to a point where you break off relationship, especially with a family member, is shortsighted and creates damage that will last a lifetime. One needs to be careful that in disagreements the sacredness and the value of the relationship is preserved. Once that a relationship is broken, it might take years to restore it. It’s always better to take the back seat in disagreement and preserve the relationship. I’ve seen one too many relationships shattered because of disagreement. Its sheer stupidity! It’s asinine! Be one, who takes the back seat in disagreement but is skillful in safeguarding the relationship.

The Unlimited God

Ephesians 3:18-19 KJV

May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
These scriptures define a love which is not only unconditional, but without limits. If we are to know the unconditional, unlimited love of God, He has to show us that we must love people unconditionally. Only the unconditional love of people can make us aware that God loves us in the same way, unconditionally. If we love people with conditions, we will only be conscious of a conditional love of God towards us. Only when we love others unconditionally,  and become aware of the same unconditional love of God for us, can we know God to be limitless towards us.  Unconditional is synonymous with limitless.  And only when we know God in His limitlessness can we be filled with all His fulness which is limitless.  If we love people with conditions we only hurt ourselves because we will only know God in a limited way.

Love Is Still The Most Creative Idea!

The church is going to make the “Big Turnaround” and come back to the Word of God.

The desperation of a world, and a church at large that has lost the fear of God is bringing people back to that fear.

We are recognizing that without God, all is doomed.

The world hungers for creative ideas, and nothing is as entrepreneurial as the application of God’s Word. The awareness is coming back!

The church’s deviancy from God’s Word to accommodate political correctness is resulting in the anticipated flap. “I told you so!”

Relevancy does not come through succumbing to political correctness but through the loving demonstration of the incorrectness that made it great.

The world is not getting better through its rebuff of God. This is the most dangerous time to be alive since I was born.

I am ready for the Big Easy, The Big Turn Around, back to the matchless Word of God.

It is time to fall back in love with the Word of God!

Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added.

With pleasure, welcomed God’s Word! Do you welcome God’s Word?

42   And they were continuing in the teaching of the apostles, and in fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

To continue, is to enthusiastically persevere in Bible teaching, fellowship with other like minded believers and in praying.

What if the world beheld this type of community in its midst?

Community, to be validated, must function not only in the walls of the church, but in the market place. A functioning community, which only feeds itself is a ghetto. The church is becoming a ghetto. We must stop this trend now, if she is to be relevant.

43 Then fear came upon every person, and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.

44 Now all who believed were together, and they had all things in common,

45 and they were selling their possessions and goods, and were dividing them among all, to the degree that anyone had a need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were sharing food with joy and simplicity of heart,

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to the church daily those who were being saved.

Sacrificial love in a community at this level of unselfishness added people to the church.

Jack Frost defines love: “The meeting of another’s need at my own expense.”

Is this a big definition of revival? Yup! How incredible creative for people to love each other in this dimension.

Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things belonging to him was his own, but they had all things in common.

33 And with great power the apostles were giving forth their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

34 Nor was there anyone needy among them; for all who were owners of lands or houses were selling them, and were bringing the proceeds of the things which had been sold,

35 and were placing them beside the feet of the apostles; and they were distributing to each, to the degree that anyone had need.

What if there is such a viable Christian community in the market place? What is the impact?

Is this model attractive to people? It is! It’s huge. It is the greatest ideas to hit the planet. Love is the greatest!

Who will run with these ideas?

Where is the Christian entrepreneur of 2014?
