Is The Devil Behind Door Number One, Two, or Three?

Timothy 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

·Greek: That they may return to soberness or awake out of the snare of the devil, after having being hunted down, taken captive, and caught alive by the devil, to do his will.

The devil is actively hunting to “catch alive” by trapping our free will and make it to become passive, so that his will in us can then become active.  This is His work with believers and the unchurched.

Passivity, is the great tool of the devil. The life of faith is not always busy, but always active. So much of the church is passive in their faith, in the studying of God’s word and in prayer. You better be sure that the devil is behind all of this  by breeding passivity.

Fear is another lie of the enemy to generate passivity in us, through paralyzing fear.  We cannot remain passive through fear. We are living in a lie, if we do so.

The lure to social media, if it distracts us from spending daily time with God, is a ploy of the devil.

The Bible is our map to life. Without the map, what can we do?

1 Peter 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Be temperate, dispassionate and serious in your life, be awake and watchful, because your opponent in a suit of law, the devil, as a roaring lion, conducts himself around, arduously and earnestly seeking, whom he may drink down, swallow, consume, and destroy.

Yep. How much of this do we see around us?

2 Cor 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed (metaschematizo)  into an angel of light.

Metaschematizo: To alter the outward appearance without a significant inward change of the heart.  The tense is in the present/ middle, which means this deceptive transformation is a continuous spiritual tactic of the enemy.  It is closely illustrated to an architectural schematic, and shows us how the enemy can change the schematic of things, and make them pleasant to the eye.

Sounds like political correctness, where the enemy wipes out the very foundations and principles of a nation under the guise of not offending others, by making us “sugar coated pleasant” to others. Yuk!

Or how many of our politicians offer external changes while their hearts have not changed for the better?

The work of Jesus is to change the inside first, and then the outside. The work of the devil is to change the outside while leaving the inside just the wicked same.

Eph 4:27  Neither give place ( topon) to the devil.

Topon : opportunity, power, occasion for acting

Another version renders “giving place”, as the construction of a landing strip, or an airport runway on our very being, for the devil to land upon!

Only our sin and disobedience can do that.  Any time that we are in willful disobedience to the Lord, we automatically open up an airport on our very backs, where the enemy can land and take off at his fancy.

How many in the church are doing that by disregarding God and His Word?

The devil only respects the Word of God. If we compromise the Word to accommodate a social or cultural view we have created a topon in our lives.

Everything has to go back to the Word of God.

Eph4:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

This verb tense is in the past.  We are expected once and for all, for us to have had the shield of faith lifted up at all times, and never ever put it down again!  We must walk by faith and not by external appearance. Faith must be our default live.

1 John 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

The word for overcome pertains to a victor or conqueror.  This verse is in the past tense.  It is an accomplished fact that our obedience to God will always cause us to conquer and come off victorious over the world system, the flesh and Satan. If we walk closely with God, our default will be that we always get the victory.

Unbelief has a power of its own, and will cause us to be defeated if we are not careful.

Matthew 13:58  And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

The Greek translation here is in the absolute negative.  This tells us that it was a virtual impossibility for Jesus to do miracles through people’s lack of faith or disobedience.

Because America has rejected God, a spirit of unbelief has hit our land. Our idol has become self-protection, instead of the risk taking which faith generates.

Political correctness is founded on fear. The fear that if we offend, we will be hurt back.

Unbelief is also closely joined together with disobedience.  Obedience to God always requires faith.   A nation that has become arrogantly disobedient to God is one which lives in unbelief and fear.

2Thess 2:7  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8  And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Out of our Greek New Testament this verse tells us, that at the manifestation of the presence of God, the wicked one is destroyed.

The word for “destroy” means to make useless, idle, or ineffective, the works of the Evil One.  If  the manifest presence of the Lord renders ineffective and useless the schemes of the enemy, why are we bent not to allow the gifts of the Spirit to be in use?

The manifest presence of God is evident in prayer, worship and spending time in God’s presence. Is it not like the devil to make us so distracted so that we don’t spend time in God’s presence and remain in his chains? We need to see what the devil is doing behind the scenes.

Mat 8:16  When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

Note the sequence of events in Mathew eight.  First Jesus cast out the evil spirit, and then He healed their physical sicknesses. Do you see the order?  The evil spirit had to be cast out first, before Jesus was able to heal the sick.

Am I saying then that all of physical sicknesses are caused by demonic oppression?

Absolutely not, but many are. Yet to the delight of the devil, the church has almost forgotten about him, attributing all maladies to the food we eat,  and even Al Gore’s global warming.

Exodus 15:26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Yeap!

Deuteronomy 7:15  And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

Is “Attention Deficit Disorder” or many of these so-called “syndromes and disorders” a real thing?  I believe so.

I think that in part we are dealing with dysfunctions that have always been always there but are now being identified.

However, I believe that behind everything that we are now calling a disorder or a syndrome, the devil and his minions have stuck their hands into the pot.

The church has been duped in part, by the enemy, to treat these modern day “disorders” and “syndromes’ from a purely physical/ emotional fashion.

As long as he deceives us so that we leave him out of the picture, he is quite content and laughs at us.

We must get back to the discerning of evil spirits in many of these situations, and distinguish the physical from the spiritual.

Ephesians 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Many of us imagine that Ephesians chapter two is Paul’s discussion focusing on the unchurched.  I  disagree.

The Greek word for worketh is defined as giving energy to.

This particular verse is in the present participle.  The sons of disobedience energize the schemes of the devil on a continuous basis.

The word for disobedience is being non-compliant.  If a Christian is continually incompliant in an area of his or her life, will he or she energize the works of the devil? I believe that there is no difference; the devil is a legalist.  He will always get in wherever he is given an open door.

The same degree of obedience or disobedience to the Lord, will result in the same degree of energizing or disengaging the works of the devil in our lives.

Ephesians 6:11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

The word for wiles is methoedeia.  The word is self-descriptive.  It talks about methodology, or methods. It is obvious that the devil’s methodology has to do with scheming, trickery, deceit and so forth.

How many methods is the devil using in America? One of the greatest is distraction through social media and technology.

Secondly,  is  the temptation for us to hate to read and never grow in the Word of God, and resort to reading Face book status messages instead.

If we become lazy in the reading of God’s word we will stay in the devil’s chains.

Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

It is important to realize that the enemy only has methodologies and schemes available to him. These are lies and deception, which he wages at very close quarters.

The battle is in our minds. This is why we need a brain washing by the Word of God.

We can see him working in political circles and the media, using the tools of lies and deception. People fall for the lies because their spirits are dead and are unable to distinguish between truth and lies. Only the Holy Spirit can us a spirit of discernment.

Wrestle: It is an arm to arm combat in which the enemy endeavors to throw us down and we must exert through our obedience to God, to throw him  down.

The word for wrestle in the Greek is pale and it describes a conflict which is decided, when the winner is able to grasp his opponent and hold him down with his hand upon his neck.

Is the devil succeeding in grasping the church by the neck and trying to pull her down?

Mt 11:12  And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

The kingdom of God suffers from violence, and only the spiritually violent take it by force.

The American church has sunk down into complacency and passivity, the opposite to a life of spiritual violence in taking God’s goods back from the hands of the enemy. We must repent.

Mt 3:2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Repentance, is usually not a feeling of remorse. It comes from two words defined as, having a change of mind.

Repentance is the transformation or renewal of our minds, by the Word of God.

Jesus commands us to repent because the kingdom of God is here. Repentance allows us to do the works of the kingdom.

Philippians 2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Paul commands us to work out, carry out, and carry out absolutely everything to completion that pertains to our salvation, and that with utmost serious cautiousness.  No stone can be left unturned.

The verb tense is in the present middle, which means that the work must be our own.  Salvation never comes out from passivity, laziness, pew sitting, and disobedience.

We must hear and find out what the Holy Spirit tells us to do, but the activity must be ours, and it must be constant and in perfect agreement with the voice of the Spirit.

Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The true Greek interpretation; we have overcome Satan by means of the blood of the lamb and by means of the word of our martyrdom.

The word for testimony in our New Testament is our English word, “martyrdom.”

Indeed, Christians throughout the ages have suffered physical death on account of their faith.  For most of us living in modern day year 2000, our occasions for martyrdom are a spiritual/ emotional one.  The cross of Christ, is activated to put or sinful self-life to death.

1 Cor 5:8  Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

2Cor 1:12  For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

2 Cor 2:17  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ

In the above three verses, we see that the word sincerity contains within its root the word for “sun” in the Greek .

Only a life of purity before the Lord will make us into a clear windowpane by which the rays of the sun or “The Son” can shine through.

An impure life will make us into a dirty piece of glass through which the image of the Lord can hardly be seen.

If the enemy cannot see the sunlight of the Son of God, he shall not leave us alone until the day and the time that he does, and if he does.

Remember our enemy, the devil, is the greatest legal lawyer.  He will claw and cleave for every inch of us that has not pass by death into resurrection.

Secondly, part of our responsibility for generating purity before God, is found in our consciences.  Our conscience has one of the most powerful manifestations of the voice of the Holy Spirit.  Its purpose is to either defend or reprove each, and every action of our lives.

I Tim 3:9  Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

2 Tim 1:3  I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

To effectively serve God, we must serve Him through our conscience.  The subject of the conscience is extensive and we do not have time and space to study it here.

Yes, we must serve God through our conscience, but first of all our consciences must likewise be taken through the cross.  A guilty, condemned, performance oriented conscience found in many a believer, will be a poor barometer of the voice of God.

Roman 16:19  For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

20  And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Simple concerning evil, is our being harmless, and being matured into a Christian life that eventually becomes unmixed with evil.  It is as the purity of a wine that has no sediment in it, and of a fine metal that has no admixture of alloys.

The simple person concerning evil is one whom is free from guile, deceit and lives in innocence before the Lord.

What is the promise of God for this type of a believer?  God Himself will bruise Satan underneath such a person’s feet.

The promise of God is greater in the Greek than in our English.  To bruise Satan, is to shatter and crush him to pieces underneath our feet.  What an encouragement for us to continue to purify ourselves before our God!

2 Corinthians 7:1  Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Notwithstanding, it is the Lord who purifies out.  However, we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

The “let us cleanse ourselves” is in the subjunctive mood.  This grammatical word structure tells us this.  Our failure, or success, in purifying ourselves through obedience, and the work of the Holy Spirit, is strictly tied up to the action of our will.  The subjunctive always warns us that the action is not automatic, but conditional upon something else.

God will not automatically purify us.  Through our own volition and will, we shall obey God and become free, or disobey Him and continue in bondage for the rest of our lives.

Blessings on this Friday!

Universalism Is Not So Universal For It Excludes The World of The Blood of Jesus

Matthew 26:28  For this is my blood of the new (the freshness of something new)  testament, (covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Testament   In the Greek manuscripts of the New Testament, the word for testament is more correctly translated as covenant.

The idea of a covenant as defined by W.E. Vine in “An Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words” is a “mutual undertaking between two parties or more, each binding himself to fulfill obligation.”

Many saints fail to realize that we are in covenant with the Lord Jesus and our ability to experience all that He has already accomplished for us is conditional to our obedience.

We live in a time in which obedience to the voice of the Spirit. Yet because a covenant between two, must be fulfilled by both, if we do not obey God, He is not required to carry out His promises to us.

The cheap grace message, that because God is love, and will forgive us, whatever we do, short-circuits this process and sends us to hell.  Beware of this message!

The Lord took it upon Himself to carry out most of the responsibilities of this New Covenant. Our responsibility lies in serving the Lord by the voice of His Spirit, with full obedience.

Matthew 26:28  For this is my blood of the new (the freshness of something new)  testament, (covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

New :  This is a most interesting word.  It is defined as the freshness of something brand new, as is the case of a new car.  The New Covenant has the ability to convert all things and make them brand new in quality, if we fulfill our obligations in keeping covenant with the Lord through obedience to voice of the Spirit.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (creation): old (archaic) things are passed away ; behold, all things are become new

This verse uses this same word new.

At the event of our becoming born again, everything that was within us of the old creation passed away.  At that same moment, the Lord made all things fresh and brand new.  We all become old and die, but everything that pertains to our spiritual life has become as a brand new car.

Paul uses the perfect verb tense to describe all things as becoming new.  The perfect tense defines an event that has occurred in time but its results and impact go on forevermore.

Matthew 26:28  For this is my blood of the new (the freshness of something new)  testament, (covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Shed: to pour out lavishly and abundantly. The blood of Christ is poured out for us in this way.

I say, is poured out, rather than saying was poured out, because the verb tense is in the present.

What was going through the mind of Jesus when He described a future event in the present?    The New Covenant can only support its eternal “newness” through the blood, which is eternally poured out from moment to moment to keep it new.

The question is what happens when we disobey and fail to keep covenant with the Lord?  The blood of Christ is found only in the New Covenant.

If we willfully move out from the confines of the New Covenant in disobedience, the blood is not available and we will stay in the archaic condition of bondages and sins. This is the problem with Rob Bell’s teaching or universalism.

1 John 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship ( sharing in common) one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Greek (my paraphrase): But if we should conduct our life in the light, in the same way as He (conducts Himself) in the light, we associate one with the other.  This association allows for the Lord and us to participate with one another.

This sharing in common allows us to get the things of God, as the blood of Jesus Christ His Son continuously cleanses us, (so that we can obtain).

In the measure that we order our lives in loving obedience to the Lord is to the same extent that we will have fellowship with the Lord.  Fellowship, or the sharing in common, allows us to participate in the things of God so that we can obtain from Him. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us in proportion to our loving obedience and we get proportionally to the cleansing by the blood.

The great danger with the teaching of universalism or that because God is love, He forgives us and we can do as we please, is that it takes us outside of our covenant commitment with Jesus and outside of the Blood of the Covenant. We stay in bondage and fail to obtain, because the blood is no longer ours.

Matthew 26:28  For this is my blood of the new (the freshness of something new)  testament, (covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Remission – Remission is defined as the sending away of something. The blood belonging to the New Covenant constantly sends away sins as we fulfill our obligations with the covenant through obedience.  Wherever we step out of covenant, “the blood that sends away,” will not be present.

The teachings of universalism or ultimate reconciliation take us out of covenant and removes us from the blood which sends away sin. So very dangerous!

2 Timothy 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Greek: That they may return to soberness out of the snare of the devil, having being hunted down and caught alive by him, to do his will.

Watchman Nee, talked on the issue of passivity, the devil, and the Christian.

Though the Word of God never uses the term “passivity”,  in reality this is Satan’s most effective method of lying against the body of Christ.

The Lord always seeks to bring our will in conformity to His will.  Our will, however, still remains free. True freedom, is the freedom to obey God.

The devil likewise wants to conform us to obeying his will.   The Lord allows our will to be free, as He lovingly compels us to obey Him.

Satan, as “the one who hunts down and catches alive,” wants to take us captive through our passivity to his will.

Any time that we give ground to the enemy through willful disobedience, Satan immediately tempts us with feelings of guilt, condemnation, oppression, passivity, and complacency, until we are captured alive by him.

Much of the body of Christ is generally passive.  We are passive in our study of the Word of God.  We are passive in our prayer life.  We are passive in our commitment to the Lord.  I can guarantee you that the devil’s methods of passivity are at work upon us.  Passivity to the Word keeps us in ignorance to the will and the ways of God that is our only avenue to obtain the blessings of God.

Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted (charming and lovely) in the beloved.

7 In whom we have redemption (the ransom payment of slaves that has freed us) through his blood, the forgiveness (sending away) of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Greek (my paraphrase). In whom we have the liberation of slaves brought about by the Lord Jesus’ satisfactory ransom payment.  This ransom payment is His blood.  The blood serves as God’s ransom payment because it has the ability to send our sins away.

Because the blood of the Lord has sent away our sins away, we are now (“accepted”) charming, and lovely, in the eyes of the Father.

8  Wherein(Greek: which) he hath abounded (caused us to abound) toward  (into) us in all wisdom and prudence;

The importance of verse eight is that the abundance of the Lord’s blessings to us is limited by wisdom and prudence.  Wisdom is our understanding of the will and the ways of God, and our loving submission of every part of our lives to that will.

Prudence is our step-by-step, daily implementation of this will, as we are guided by the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The abundance of God’s riches and blessings are released in proportion to how much we conform our daily conduct to God’s wisdom and prudence.

8  Wherein(Greek: which) he hath abounded (caused us to abound) toward  (into) us in all wisdom and prudence;

Toward is a wonderful word.  In reality it is the word “into.” The saints who have become charming and lovely to God are now the receptacles “into” which God desires to funnel all that He is, and all that He has.

The more obedience, the more funneling!

The devil knows that the more passive and complacent that he can keep us in our study of the Word, the less that we will know of God’s wisdom and prudence, and we will suffer decrease will be in the abundance of the blessings of the Lord to us.

Remember, it is not what we think that we are performing of the word of God but in reality are not, that releases the riches of God.  The Lord’s blessings are only funneled into us in what we do in accordance to correct reality of the Word in His wisdom and prudence.

This is why we witness so many ministries and churches that work and sow much and reap little.

Finally, a successful Christian life that is a threat to the devil is one of spiritual athletic agony and spiritual labor.   Such a life is accomplished by violent spiritual believers who take the kingdom of God by spiritual violence; never passivity!

Luke 22:20  Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

In my blood is in the Greek “dative case of location.”

Where do you and I live?  We live on the earth or are located in the earth.

Because we are located in the earthly world we are affected by, and are part of everything that belongs to the world.  The New Covenant is located in the blood, or more accurately, in the world of the blood of Jesus.  All that the blood of Jesus accomplishes affects everything in the New Covenant.  As long as we maintain ourselves in covenant with the Lord, we automatically live inside of the world of the blood of Jesus Christ.  But if we step out of the covenant, we step out of the world of the blood of Jesus. The passive and un submitted life to Jesus will keep us out of the world of His blood.

Our loving obedience to the Lord is our safety and protection from the devil, and our cleansing from all sin and bondage.  There is no cheap grace message, to do as we feel, with God. This message comes from the throne of Satan.

For those of you who deny that Jesus Christ is God, the next scripture is for you.

Does it not say that God purchased the church with His own blood?

Acts 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

 Romans 3:25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Propitiation-   The Greek tells us that God has placed before the public eye “CHRIST AS A PROPITIATION.”

To propitiate, is for God to become favorably inclined towards us.

This is because Jesus paid the blood ransom money that sent our sins away, making us charming and lovely to His eyes.

God now has the legal ability to shower all of His blessings upon us.  The fullness of His blessings is His inheritance, which will take an eternity for us to receive.

Ephesians 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

1 Corinthians 10:16  The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion  (“a” communion, not “the” communion)of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Marvin Vincent, the Greek scholar translates the first part of First Corinthians ten and sixteen in the following way. “The cup over which the familiar formula of blessing is pronounced.”

The communion of the blood:

Communion is the word for fellowship. As we have discussed fellowship is defined as an association, participation, and a sharing in common.

In this case, the cup represents our spiritual participation and sharing in all the benefits that the blood of Christ has in store for us.

1 Corinthians 11:25  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

We are told that that the cup is likewise the New Covenant of the Lord.  Let us see why.

26  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

Greek: For at any time that you choose to eat this bread and drink this cup, you publicly proclaim and declare with all thoroughness what the death of the Lord Jesus signifies, until the time that He chooses to come.

The New Covenant located in the blood of Jesus is inaugurated with the death of the Lord Jesus by the shedding of the same.  Our partaking of the cup becomes a spiritual display of the New Covenant and the death of Christ, which it fully declares.

Ephesians 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Greek paraphrase; you were once far off, not only in distance, but alienated from God and without access to the things that belong to Him.   Now by His blood, you have become close to Him and enjoy full access to Him and His things.

This scripture is a good example of how we must commune with the blood of Jesus to receive by faith its benefits.

Colossians 1:20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Greek (paraphrase): He brought about the state of freshness and newness to the universe through the blood of His cross.  He is able to harmonize all things back to Himself whether upon the earth or in heaven through the blood of His cross.

Harmony pertains to the universe because it’s subjected to Christ, under His headship, and can now be restored to its original condition and purpose, which God had for it prior to the fall.

Christ shed His blood for the universe, partly in preparation for the eternal ages to come.  We can therefore confess before Satan, that Jesus has harmonized everything in us to His original plan and state.  Satan, therefore, cannot touch us, if we maintain ourselves in the covenant of the blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained ( to find, discover, or to meet upon) eternal redemption( loosening) for us.

Greek:  By His own blood He entered once and for all, and remains in the holiest place.  He has obtained for us an everlasting loosening or deliverance not only of our sins but also from the penalties associated with them.

In the Old Testament, once a year, on one day, that being the Day of Atonement, the high priest would go into the holiest place with the blood of animals and purge the sins of the nation of Israel.

We have a better sacrifice than the nation of Israel.  Through His spotless blood, the Lord Jesus entered permanently into the holiest place of the heavenly temple securing for us a permanent and everlasting purging of sins.  We are free from sin forever!

Hebrews 9:13  For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

Greek: For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling what is common (what is in the world at large) and profane is able to separate unto God (from the world at large and towards His purposes) in regards to the purity of the flesh

Hebrews 9:14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot (to be without moral stain or blemish.)  to God, purge your conscience from dead works ( corpse like works) to serve the living God?

The blood of bulls and calves could only give the house of Israel with purity of the flesh.  On the other hand, the blood of Jesus not only purifies our flesh but also cleanses our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Our conscience is a simple barometer of what lies within us whether good or evil.  A dead work is anything that we do outside of the voice of the Holy Spirit whether by performance, guilt, religious agendas and fleshly strivings.  The blood of bulls and goats could never purify the spirit and soul of man or woman from these fleshly efforts to serve the living God.  Serving the living God, is serving God as an adopted son or daughter.  Our service as sons and daughters is a simple obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit apart from the performance, guilt and compulsion brought about the dead works of fleshly efforts.

Hebrews 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Greek: And almost all things with blood are cleansed according to the law.  Apart from the blood shedding (through the giving up of a life) can there be the sending away of sins.

Heb 9:23  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

Greek: It is necessary that the earthly copy of the things which are in the heavens themselves be purified with the blood of bulls and goats, but the heavenly original with more excellent sacrifices than these.

24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Greek: Christ did not enter into the holies made with human hands which is merely a copy resembling the authentic.  He entered into heaven itself to make Him visible before the face of the God on our behalf.

For one, Christ has done exceedingly above what the earthly high priest could do. The high priest could only enter into an imperfect earthly copy of the tabernacle that dwells in heaven. There, he could present the blood before the glory of God, which dwelt on the mercy seat above the Ark of the Covenant.  Jesus, however, when into heavens itself, into the authentic tabernacle, and presented Himself before the very face of God, not just His earthly glory.

This has insured us with an absolute purging of our sins and an assurance of a completely thorough salvation.  As we live in this imperfect world, we can still believe for total freedom in every part of our lives, or at least our continual progress towards it.

Hebrews 7:25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, utterly) that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them

Heb 9:23  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

In verse twenty-three we see that the earthly tabernacle was cleansed with the blood of bulls and goats so that priestly ministry could take place.  How much more effective can our ministries be if the authentic heavenly tabernacle has been cleansed with the blood of Jesus?  There is no excuse for each of us to be powerfully used by the Lord if we serve the living God and not dead works.

Galatians 5:25  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk ( military steps in rank and order) in the Spirit.

Greek: If we are living in the Spirit, let us march in the steps of a soldier with the Spirit’s wishes.

Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, Greek: We have at all times therefore a fearless confidence before God that gives us an entrance into the holies by the blood of Jesus.

Boldness is one of my favorite New Testament words.  It simply means, “to tell it like it is.”  Because the blood of Christ has made us charming and lovely before the eyes of God we now have boldness with Him.

Boldness urges us to come before God, having nothing to hide from Him, without shame or guilt, fully confident and assured, and with the ability to speak intimately, frankly, and with reverential bluntness.

Heb 10:22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Greek: Let us continuously approach God with a heart that is genuine and real (not religious) because we are fully confident.  This confidence comes through our faith in all that Christ has done for us.  We base this faith on the fact that our hearts were once in the past sprinkled from an evil conscience, but the impact of this event has a lasting and eternal impact.

Likewise, our bodies were once in the past washed with pure water (the blood of Christ and the Word of God), but the impact of this event has a lasting and eternal impact.

We see the perfect tense used in Hebrews ten and twenty two. The salvation of the Lord accomplished for us two thousand years ago continues effective now and forevermore.

Hebrews 11:28  Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

Greek: By faith he Moses performed the Passover and the pouring of the blood lest the destroyer of the firstborn might do them violence and cause them injury.

This is a very important scripture in spiritual warfare. Our claiming of the blood of Jesus towards Satan will stop the violence and injury that he would cause to our loved ones and us.

However we must not forget to do the Passover in conjunction with claiming the blood of Jesus so that our protection will be complete.

For us to day, the Passover signifies our complete exiting from the land of sin; our eating of the unleavened bread, which is a holy life before God; our not fearing man or Satan, but stepping out instead into a life of faith and obedience, which will take us into the promised land of freedom and our spiritual vocation.

1 Peter 1:18  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

Greek: Knowing that with things which perish such as silver and gold (which cannot pay the sufficient ransom payment to liberate slaves) you were bought, from your empty manner of life handed down to you from your ancestors.

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish (internal purity) and without spot (external staining by sin)

Greek: But by the precious and highly honored blood as of a lamb void of internal blemishes and thus unspotted externally by the world and Satan.

This is the costly price of our deliverance that is ever before God and allows us to have boldness with Him.  Likewise this must be our confession before the devil.

The Dividing Asunder Between Soul and Spirit: Understanding the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

John 1:33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with (Greek case of location: into the domain, world, and sphere of) the Holy Ghost.

I once read an excellent example of Biblical baptism.  In the days of Christ there was a recipe to create a “pickled” vegetable.  It was said that a vegetable was BAPTISED into THE LOCATION or SPHERE of a vinegar solution.  After a while, the vinegar WORKED INSTRUMENTALLY BACK through the vegetable and “pickled” it.

Tofu, likewise, acquires the taste and texture of any food that it is baptized into.  We can say that with whatever food the tofu is BAPTISED INTO, it is INSTRUMENTALLY influenced back by that food to make the tofu like it.

Gal 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ( submerged into the domain, sphere, or world of Christ’s influence and sovereignty ) have put on Christ (now wear Christ, whom as clothes which totally cover us, influences and affects back through us to conform us into His image.)

John 14:20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, ( Jesus lives continually in the domain of the Father’s world  and ye in me( We must be therefore located in the domain of Christ’s world), and I in you.(So that Christ can instrumentality work back through us, by pervading, influencing, and affecting.)

Gal 5:25  If we live in ( Instrumental (By)) in the Spirit, let us also walk (Greek word which is defined as “marching in the footsteps of a soldier”) in (Instrumental (By)) the Spirit.

Greek paraphrase) (It is a given that we should be living our lives not in the present day world system, but in the domain, influence, and sovereignty of the world of the Holy Spirit. Because we are being continually affected and influenced by the Spirit, in that influence and effect we must march in step as soldiers so that the Spirit’s influence can go on, deepen, intensify, and continue interrupted.

In the gospel of John we find several instances where the Lord Jesus tells us that we are not of this world system.

In Galatians five and twenty-five, we then see the apostle Paul telling us that it is a given that we should be living in the world of the Spirit.  In Galatians five and twenty-five we find a wonderful example of location and instrumentality.  We live in the world of the Holy Spirit, and must march as a soldier in step to the Spirit’s workings back through us as He instrumentally influences and affect us.

Paul exhorts us to live continually in the world of the Holy Spirit, so that every action of our lives becomes permeated, influenced, affected, and controlled by the work, power, strength, and liberty of the Holy Spirit.

Victory and liberty in the Lord is found in proportion to how much the Spirit can control and take over our every action.  Victory is not found in our trying to overcome. It is found in our being submerged deep enough into the world of the Holy Spirit so that He can influence and affect us at ever point.  We are filled with the Spirit, in proportion to how much the Spirit is working back through us to influence, affect, control, and overtake our every action of ours.

Paul tells us in Galatians five and twenty-five that our lives must be lived BY THE INSTRUMENTALITY of the Spirit’s actions.

Gal 5:16  This I say then, Walk( The totality of our daily activities and the way that we conduct ourselves in them) in the Spirit) (Instrumental (BY), and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (Greek double negative: and it will be impossible for you to fulfill the flesh’s strong desire through act of your will

Let us now look at Galatians five and sixteen. The Greek word for “walk” is the total of our daily affairs, and the ways in which conduct ourselves in them.

Paul commands us TO BAPTISE every affair in our daily life into the world of the Holy Spirit so that the Spirit through His instrumentality can affect, influence, reconcile, control, and overtake every one of those affairs.

THEN, AND ONLY THEN, shall we not fulfill the lusts of the flesh!!

2 Cor 3:17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,(Location: sphere or domain)  there is liberty.

Greek: There, where the Spirit is, and ONLY within the domain and influence of the Spirit, EXCLUSIVE OF ANYTHING OTHER LOCATIONS, DOMAINS, OR SOVEREIGNTIES, is there liberty.

Two Corinthians three and seventeen tells us that only inside the world of the Spirit will we find liberty, which is the result of the availability of all things now in the state reconciliation.

John 6:28  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God (The Father works His works back through the disciples, as He affects and influences them in proportion to how much he or she submerges into the world of the Spirit.), that ye believe on him (Greek “INTO”; location, domain, submerging into) whom he hath sent.

1 Cor 2:17  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.(prophetical speech must be done in the domain or sphere of the Spirit.)

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled (by being baptized into the world of the Holy Ghost) with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak( not just the content of what is being said, but mainly the utterances or the expressions used) with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them(The instrumentality of the Spirit now working back through them as they were “located and filled inside the domain of the Spirit”, to give them prophetic utterance) utterance. (The language of prophets, ecstatic speech, miraculous verbal impulses, the oracles of seers)

The Holy Spirit not only gives to us, the content of our speech, but the expressions and utterances used to manifest it.  The deeper our lives are in the realm of the Spirit, the clearer will the content of what we must speak prophetically, and the stronger will be the verbal expressions and utterances through which it is manifested.

The prophetic flow of speech, or what the Old Testament calls prophesying the oracles of the Lord, is a flow of God’s speech, which bubbles up in our spirits. As we are filled with the Spirit of God, the bubbling of God’s speech, which rides on the surface of the waters of the Spirit, as He progressively fills us up with them, arises higher and higher upon these rising waters until it reaches the level of our mouths and flows out.

John 12:49  For I have not spoken of myself ( LOCATION: (Jesus is located within, or submerged into the Father) I absolutely have not uttered anything from my independent and exclusive self); but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment (The instrumentality of the Father working back through Jesus), what I should say, and what I should speak. (So permeated Jesus the Father, as to give to Him both the utterances and expressions of speech, and the content of the speech carried by them)

John 8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he ( I am) , and that I do nothing of myself (and that from my independent and exclusive self I do nothing); but as my Father hath taught me( but as the Father has instrumentally penetrated, affected, and influenced me) I speak these things (these things I utter and express prophetically, by that divine influence which has permeated me.)

1 Cor 12:8  For to one is given through the Spirit ( Agency)  the (A)  word of wisdom; and to another the ( A)  word of knowledge, according( reference, respect to, or in relationship) to the same Spirit:

A word of knowledge, or wisdom, is a mode of prophecy. The King James is incorrect in calling it “the” word of wisdom or knowledge.  It should be “a” word of wisdom or knowledge.  In other words, the word (of wisdom and knowledge), which is given to us by the Spirit of God, is a type of word, which has a “wisdom or knowledge content”, exclusively of being made up of any other contents. Because it is one specific logos word, with a specific content, it is in fact a rhema word.

Mat 8:8  The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only  By a word, or by the instrumentality of a word.  The word itself healed the servant), and my servant shall be healed.

Herein we see the power of the world of the Spirit.  The Greek tells us, “speak by a logos word,” not the logos word, but “a” logos word, making it into a specific word with a content of healing, or a rhema word.

“By” a logos word” tells us that it is the word itself influencing and affecting the situation, causes the healing.  Jesus did not heal the servant.  The rhema word of God working through Jesus is the one, which healed.  Jesus’ life was so submerged in the Spirit of God, that He lived in the domain of supernatural faith found within this world.  Secondly, He lived in the world in which all is new and reconciled to God, and all is available.  The faith released through Him inside the word that He spoke, caused the word itself to heal the servant.

Let us look at a few more examples the rhema word, tempered or beat in every instance with an equal measure of faith as found in the domain of the Spirit, to create a “word” itself which heals, or casts out a demon.

Matthew 8:16  When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word (By the instrumentality of the word; Jesus did not cast out the devils, but the word of God operating in Him), and healed all that were sick:

Luke 4:32  And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with (Instrumental)  power.(His word had the “instrumentality of authority”; The word itself, in the domain of the Spirit, exercises God’s jurisdiction over the works of the enemy in the same way that a state trooper exercises jurisdiction over the interstate highways.

Luke 7:7  Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word( By a word or by the instrumentality of a word. The word itself healed the servant), and my servant shall be healed.

Luke 11:20  But if I with the finger of God(By the instrumentality of the Spirit; Jesus did not cast out the devils. The rhema word originated in the Spirit and operating through Jesus, cast out the devil) cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

John 5:16  And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day

John 5:17  But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto ( My Father never ceases working in the Spirit) and I work.(and I work externally, using exactly the same procedures and in exactly the same manner in which I see instinctively the Father working within me.)

Worketh   is defined in exactly the same way that a company strives to be successful in producing the services for which it is in business for.

Hitherto: Until now. My Father has been continually at work, producing the services that pertain to the business of the kingdom of God in an unbroken flow, right through all of your Sabbaths; and even now as we speak, He works.

And I work:  I, in like manner.

This is a tremendously important point of instruction for ministers who want to work in the Spirit.

Jesus tells us that we are to work out into the world, what the Father works into us with exactly the same intentions, intensity, and ways used by the Father. Our ministry must be a carbon copy of the Father’s ministry in us.  Remember that every work of the Father is translated into a rhema word that we can understand.

The Dividing Asunder of Soul and Spirit: What Is The Difference Between Our Soul And Spirit?

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul (psyche) and spirit( pneumatos) , and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1 Thessalonians 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit(pneuma) and soul(psyche) and body(soma) be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is crucial for us to learn how to differentiate between our souls and our spirits, and even know that the two exist.

In a sense our souls and spirits must be supernaturally divided by the Holy Spirit.

This is because our souls which are comprised of the mind, will and emotion can sometimes be in a state of pain, tumult or anxiety. This will drown out the still small voice of the Holy Spirit in our spirits.

Our soul realm but be healed and separated from, but at the same time submitted to the Spirit of God dwelling in our spirit.

Most of the church does not know the difference between the soul and spirit and does not care to know.

This is what the devil loves, because the only thing which can defeat him is God, working through His voice in our human spirits.

In the original Greek New Testament the distinction between both is sweeping.

Man’s spirit, or God, The Holy Spirit, is defined as a pneuma.

Our word pneumatic originates from this, and has to do with air or breath.

The Meridian Webster dictionary defines pneumatic as something that is “moved or worked by air pressure”.

Our spirit is the organ that God has given us to house and embrace His Spirit.

Our human spirits in conjunction with a renewed mind discern the pneumatic or windy movements of the Holy Spirit.

Our souls were never equipped for this function!!

The human spirit is the organ that gives residence, or is home to God’s Holy Spirit.

The role of the human spirit is generally a passive or inactive one.  The soul on the contrary is always active.

Our spirit works as a protective womb for the presence and the motions of the Spirit of the Living God within us.  It is very much connected with our hearts, and our consciences.

Through its abilities, the human spirit embraces, discerns, and reveals what Jesus does in the Holy Spirit.

John 4:24  God is a Spirit(pneuma): and they that worship him must worship him in spirit(pneuma) and in truth.

John 3:8  The wind(pneuma) bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.(pneumatos).

 What is the Soul?

The soul (pyche or psuche in the Greek) is the combination of faculties that consists of the mind, intellect, will, and emotions.  The soul performs rational and intellectual functions.  The rational will never capture the wind!   This is why we are unable to discern God with our souls alone.

It is also impossible for God to dwell in our souls.  One of the reasons for this is that our souls are open to the attack and deception of the enemy.  This occurs because quite often our decisions are based on feelings.  God then, had to create an organ within us which is not affected either by our emotions or intellect,  mainly our human spirits.

Let us see the distinction between the soul and the spirit.

The soul, as I said earlier, is a combination of our mind, will, intellect and emotions.  Its function contrary to the spirit, is not to reveal, but to actively work and choose.  It is the mediator between our bodies and our spirits.  The soul is constantly involved in a struggle to choose between the promptings of the Holy Spirit and the promptings of our carnal flesh, our un renewed minds, the world, and the deceptions of Satan.

The Spirit of the living God within us, must become demonstrated enough to win the battle for the soul.

The responsibility of the soul then is to yield itself continuously to the Holy Spirit.  When it does that, the soul will take us in the ways of the Lord.  God must bring our will to a point where it has no more desire than to submit itself to the wishes of the Holy Spirit.  Our emotions must be healed and stilled before the Lord so that we can attend to that “still small voice within”.

Immature believers, or believers that are still bound in the throes of demonic oppression or past hurts, are unable to discern clearly the quiet voice of the Lord within.  Because the emotions are still screaming out, they drown out the presence of the Lord. All deliverance, inner healing, counseling, and therapy must be directed at setting us free to hear and uncompromisingly obey the Holy Spirit.

Healing is the means of becoming spiritual or pneumatic Christians.

Our mind and intellect must be renewed by the word of God so that it can adequately understand what the Holy Spirit wishes.

The spirit must become totally free, and delivered from all impurity and bondage so that it stands out supreme.

The Battle: Deception and Victory Over The Demonic

1Ti 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Shall depart- The word is to “apostatize.”

Seducing spirits.  The same word for that of “error.”  The word for error in scriptures is from where our word “planet” comes.  A planet is defined as a “wonderer”, and error means to wonder from the truth.

Doctrines of devils are promoted through teachers that have fallen into error, wandering from the truth through their own sins. and the influence of demons.

Please see Paul’s order. Seducing spirits, which cause to wander, allow us to pay heed to doctrines of devils.

2  Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; should read – Through the hypocrisy of those that speak lies.

Conscience seared with a hot iron; should read- Branded in their conscience.

Let us look at the progression of deception;

When Christians do not know and live by the truth of the gospel that is molded as a pattern of “sound words” (healthy words) they will pay heed to doctrines of devils.

This is what is rampant today in the Body of Christ.

We are brought to believe the doctrines of devils when seducing spirits, which causes the believer to wander from the truth or fall into error, deceive us.

1Tim4:7  But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

Exercise thyself; Comes from the word for gymnastic which in turn comes from the word gymnos, which is defined as “being naked.”

The practice in the days of Paul was for athletes to exercise almost naked to be unhindered as possible for vigorous training.

Godliness is our way of life, which makes us pleasing unto God.

For us to attain to all that the Lord has for us, we must vigorously train in His will, spiritually naked, as to be untangled from distractions, idols, and worldly affairs.

1 Timothy 6:19  Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

There is big difference between getting saved, going to church and performing religious activities versus that of “laying a hold on eternal life.”

To lay hold on, is to grab on to, pull in, and make it our own possession

The Lord is never satisfied with our simple conversion and even our faithful attendance in church.  He wants us to experience as much of the fullness of eternal life as possible while in our earthly tent, which is to know God through the fullness of the revelation of His Son within our lives.

Ephesians 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Many of us imagine that Ephesians chapter two is Paul’s discussion focusing on unbelievers.  I disagree.

The Greek word for worketh is defined as giving energy to.

This particular verse is in the present participle.  It signifies that the sons of disobedience energize the scheme of the devil . The word for disobedience is being non-compliant.

If a Christian is continually non compliant in an area of his or her life, will he or she energize the works of the devil? I believe that there is no difference; the devil is a legalist.  He will always get in wherever he is given an open door.

I also feel that the same degree of obedience or disobedience to the Lord will result in the same degree of energizing or disengaging the works of the devil in our lives.

In the above-mentioned three verses, we see that the word sincerity has within its root the word for “sun” in the Greek.

Remember our enemy, the devil, is the greatest legal lawyer that this universe will ever see, apart from God Himself.  He will claw and cleave for every inch of us that has not pass by death into resurrection.

Secondly, part of our responsibility for generating purity before God, is found in our consciences.  Our conscience contains one of the most powerful manifestations of the voice of the Holy Spirit.  Its purpose is to either defend or reprove each, and every action of our lives.

I Tim 3:9  Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

2 Tim 1:3  I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

This type of conscience produces dead works, which in turn forces us to serve God in our flesh.  I urge you to re-read Romans six, seven and eight as found on the web site.

Once that we learn to serve God in the Spirit, and have become a son and daughter of God, our conscience will become an excellent barometer of our ministry unto God.

Our conscience must be purged of all the dead works consisting of condemnation, guilt, duty and so forth.

Once that the cross has accomplished, we will serve God simply by His voice in our spirit and conscience; No more and no less. This is true sonship.

Hebrews 9:14  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

2 Cor 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not Because by the mercy of God, we were called into this ministry, we do not become discouraged. (We know that if God divinely summoned us, He will take care of us, and see us through; therefore we do not lose heart.)

But have renounced (we gave up once, and now forbid) the hidden things of dishonesty (anything that brings shame or disgrace to the gospel, or to us), not walking in craftiness(not conducting ourselves in the doctrines of men), nor handling the word of God deceitfully(by trickery, adulterating or corrupting God’s word for base gain) ; but by manifestation of the truth (but by manifesting the gospel in its accuracy and genuineness through the Word of God and by our lives) commending ourselves to every man’s conscience( we present ourselves to every type of men’s conscience) in the sight of God. (Before the constant gaze of God)

We must remember that the conscience of man is a component of the voice of the Holy Spirit. Paul here says, that the soundness of the apostle’s doctrine and the genuineness of his or her life in accordance to the gospel must be so great, that it must hold up to the scrutiny of the voice of God bearing witness or passing judgment to what the apostle ministers in their hearer’s consciences.

Secondly, the apostle must also deal with the scrutiny of God Himself, whose penetrating look is ever upon the apostle.

John 14:30  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Binding the enemy is very similar in nature.

Once again we err in part, when we think that our binding of the enemy has to do solely with hurling scriptural phrases at him.

Yes, there is power in this, but the enemy is never completely bound.  Absolute binding of the enemy can only occur, when each and every part of our lives have come into conformity with the will of the Lord, and the enemy is forbidden a place or space where he can afflict us

Matthew 16:19  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

In actuality Jesus tells us the following.  The word for bind is “is to forbid”.  The word for loose is “to permit”. Whatever we forbid or bind upon the earth shall come to pass, if it is of the Lord.  This is because God will honor our obedience and count it as forbidden in the heavenly realm.  He will then execute His righteousness to cause us to successfully carry out the binding on earth, which He decreed in the heavenly realm through our obedience.

The same is true of our loosing, or our permitting.  God will bless our obedience and will loose or let in the heavenly realm, when we loose upon the earth.  He then sends forth His power to cause us to execute the act of loosing as was decreed in the heavenlies.

Please remember, that anything, which God does on earth, must first be executed in the heavenlies.

Mark 1:23  And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

Unclean spirit.  Greek: “a complete absence of purity.” This describes for us a bit about the nature of the demonic.

24  Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Greek:  There is absolutely nothing in common between you and us, Jesus (the) Nazarene, have you come to destroy us?

This is a highly crucial verse in that it teaches us about our true authority before Satan and his demons. The authority that the demonic discern in the Lord, and causes them to tremble is that because of the Lord’s absolute purity, and sinlessness, there is nothing in common between them and the Lord Jesus.

Herein lies our key to overcome the demonic within our lives, and then to be used by the Lord to deal with it in other people’s lives.

Purity is attained as we are baptized into the full revelation of the Son of God and become like Him.  The purity of Jesus baptizes us into His freedom, and His freedom allows for the full operation of God’s dunamis power that resides within Jesus to deal with the enemy. We see the same relationship between Jesus and the devil also spoken in John 14:30

John 14:30  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Hath nothing   (Greek absolute negative) “The devil has absolutely nothing in me or nothing in common with me.”

Herein lies the true meaning of Biblical binding.

To bind is not to allow or permit something to occur. Genuine binding of the demonic only occurs within a pure life, which has no defilement with what is common with Satan and his cohorts.

At every point of our lives in which purity reigns and the devil shares nothing in common to us, he has been bound.   Now mind you, we will never experience absolute purity and sinlessness on this side off heaven.

Let us be assure that if we live in habitual disobedience and chronic bondage our vocalized confessions of binding the enemy is scorned and mocked by him who will continue to afflict and latch on to us wherever he finds sin.

Matthew 16:19  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Greek: (paraphrase) At whatever point you have once and for all prohibited or disallowed something from happening upon the earth it shall be at the same point eternally prohibited and disallowed in the heavens. At whatever point you once and for all let or allow for something to happen upon the earth, it shall be at that same point eternally permitted and allowed in the heavens.

Mat 12:29  Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Greek (paraphrase) No one will have the dunamis power to come into the strong one’s house to change the situation, thoroughly plunder his goods until they are laid waste, and then occupy.  (Like the USA is doing in Afghanistan.)  He must bind the strong one first and then he will be able to thoroughly plunder.

After twenty-two years of serving the Lord Jesus, He is finally dealing with the strong man in my life.  I am of the belief that every believer has a strong man that afflicts him or her.  The strong man is the demon that is last to be bound from our lives.  He is the one that we can discern constantly standing before us face to oppose and withstand us every second of our lives in a variety of deceptive measures.

The Lord has allowed the strong man to afflict me until I have bound every major area of sin in my life through obedience to Him, which has led to liberty in those areas.  After completing this process, the Lord is now dealing with the strongman in my life.  Let us now look at the next set of scriptures.

Luke 11:21  When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

Greek: When the strong one fully furnished with weaponry guards his palace, his goods, wealth, and property lie in peace.

22  But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

Greek: But when a stronger one than the strong man comes upon him with a hostile intent, attacks him, and conquers him, he takes from the strong man the armor which he trusted in and thoroughly distributes out (to others) the strong one’s weapons and goods.

Jesus is obviously the stronger one.  My friends, the strong man must be defeated in two ways. His binding by us is the point in which there is not one significant area of unrepentant sin left in our lives. Secondly, it is only the revelation of the Lord Jesus laboring in us by His grace, and attacking the strongman as the stronger one, that is effective

With the strong man is finally bound and conquered we find ourselves running, leaping forward, and plundering for the Lord!

Mark 1:25  And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

Rebuked him – Greek “To heap something upon someone’s honor.”

All created things have an honor that makes them up.

An honor that belongs to someone, or something, is the glory that makes it into what it is.  Even sickness and sin has a glory, though perverse, that identifies it as a particular sickness or sin, and gives to it its substance and power.

When we rebuke a sickness with faith in the name of the Lord Jesus, we destroy the very substance and power of the sickness.

Hold thy peace – From the word to muzzle something.  Effectively the Lord Jesus commands the demon to be reduced to silence and his activity to be placed in check.

Eph 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

When the church does not have the revelation of the Son of God it grows into doctrines of men which are promoted by things instead than the truth which is promoted through the revelation of God’s son.

The church growing lopsided because it is growing lopsided and being blown around by ever wind of doctrine.

That we may be no longer children.  A transformation must take place.

Nepios literally infants, and other minors that are immature and untaught.

Tossed to and fro dashing or surging waves.  In changefulness and agitation the nepio is carried about by every wind of or degree or doctrine.

The sleight of men is the element of an evil atmosphere,

Dice playing and deception.  Instead of growing up into the revelatory knowledge of Christ, we make philosophies, or things , the so called progressive thought, social and cultural issues and wrong doctrine, the main focus.

Doctrines become divine truth.  Things, blessings, miracles, social and cultural issues becomes the major instead of the minors.

Christian philosophies lead into a false way of Christian life that diverts the nepio fatally from the truth. If we concentrate on things, we shall always be immature.

These philosophies of Christian “things” will not bring the revelation of Christ.  The church will not grow up into all things by Christ who is our all and in all.

The church becomes messed up.  Believers are hurting; the teachers of the doctrines of men become exalted.  Many of the doctrines of men only work when you throw money at them.

Philippians 1:9  And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge(thorough knowledge) and in all judgment;(discernment)

That your love may abound yet more (but always held bounded within the river banks of a) a full precise and exact knowledge of the things of God and in all discernment.

Judgment is defined as discernment. Likewise charity must be always held in check within the river banks of our discernment of God’s voice and our discernment of what is of God, and what does not come from Him.

We cannot love the world for Christ through our impulses and emotions, or by becoming its savior, our out of a fear and guilt that the world is going to hell in a hand basket.  Such love will never become charity and will eventually burn us out.

10 that ye may approve things that are excellent;( what differs or excels) that ye may be sincere (judged by the sun) and without offence till the day of Christ;

Greek: That you may recognize as genuine upon examination the things that are differing. Your recognition of what differs will allow you to choose only what is excelling or best towards your fulfillment of the things that pertain to Christ.  This will cause you to become so pure that it will allow for the beams of sunlight to shine through you unhindered.  Likewise you will become as one that has nothing that will make others stumble when they see your life before the Lord.

Charity is the product of an accurate knowledge of the Lord, His will, and His Word.  It is likewise the product of being led by the Holy Spirit. Thorough knowledge of the things of God and restricting our lives to His voice will allow for the distinguishing between the good and the excellent. If we choose the excellent God, will purify us so much that we shall be as a clear windowpane that reflects the glory of God to the world.  This develops charity in our lives because God is love.

The Battle: Salvation

Gal6:15  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth(inward strength and force, to have strength to overcome health, ability, capacity) any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Only Christ being formed and birthed in us is of any capacity or ability for us to overcome and get the victory.

Matt 10:37  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

“To have real weight or clout with Jesus.”

The word for love in this scripture is affection for Jesus above that of anything else.  Having a greater affection for anything in this life makes a believer unfit and unprepared to follow Jesus.  He is unable to adequately respond to the life and the call of Jesus.  There will be a lack of balance between the believer and Jesus himself.  He will not deserve Jesus.

In Philippians 2:12 the exhortation is to carry out our salvation to an utter completion, growing up into Christ in all things. It means to leave no stone unturned.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

The command is in the grammatical middle voice signifying that the responsibility is ours, and it shall be done through implicit obedience, much prayer, and through an exact knowledge of the Word.

Another favorite scripture of mine is found in Ephesians 6:13

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand,

We are encouraged here to take the armor of God and having done all to stand, to stand therefore.

“Having done all” is the word “katergazomai.’

This defines us as warriors in a terrible struggle against the world, Satan, and sin.

The big ball of dull is kicked up as we engage in these spiritual gladiator struggles of life.

When the dust finally settles we remain standing victoriously, as Satan, sin and the world lay scattered at our feet.  This is the attitude that we must adopt, so lacking in the complacent and passive American church. Some of us need to be lights.

The reason the church is so weak is because few obey this scripture.

2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Greek: But we all with our face uncovered; Though our faces have been uncovered at our conversion, a believer that has an “open” face is one that is yielded to the Lord and gladly obeys Him.

He or she welcomes all that God has for them; their faces are opened to His dealings in their lives.

Quite the opposite, the person who has a “closed face” is one who secretly does not receive another, and is in opposition or disagreement with that other, judging them in their heart. Or one who limits what God wants to do in his or her life.

The glory of the Lord beholding as in a mirror is the opposite to Moses who did not have a spiritual mirror to capture and behold the glory of the Lord that would thoroughly transform him!

The Old Covenant was transient and not permanent as the New Covenant inaugurated in the blood of Jesus Christ was.

Thus he covered his face, which had the passing glory of God on it. Christ is our spiritual mirror that allows us to permanently capture and behold the glory of God that will thoroughly transform us, as long as our faces remain opened towards Him .

Look up Strong’s Word 3339. It’s imperative to have a basic understanding of NT Greek.

To the same image are being metamorphosised  ( 3339) out of glory and into (the next level) glory even as from the Spirit of the Lord.

Mt 17:2  And was transfigured <3339> before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Mr 9:2  And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured <3339> before them.

Ro 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed <3339> by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2Co 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed <3339> into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly (“speaking plainly”; probably through the mouths of prophets), that in the latter times (not specific times) some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

The Battle: Prayer

Colossians 4:12  Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently (agonizing with athletic zeal) for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect (to the very maturity of Christ’s character)  and complete (fulfilling every aspect of Christ will, will so that you have total confidence and assurance in everything that He wants from you)  in all the will of God.

1) Brought to a place of spiritual maturity in every aspect of our lives; and having a full assurance and understanding of everything that God has willed for our lives.

2) Knowing and understanding every aspect of what God has called us to do and willed for us, and do it with all spiritual maturity)

3) To the limit of the very maturity of Christ’s character so that we can fulfill every aspect of Christ will through it.

James 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The prayers of a righteous person carry much inner strength and punch to exert a mighty flurry of activity and efficiency before the eyes of God.

Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Supplications- specific petitions about our needs and desires.

Prayers- General prayers made unto God

Intercessions- An interesting word that can be defined in many ways.

“Conference, encounters, conversation,” are all part of intercession.

We can describe it as the act of developing a relationship with a person as to become intimate with him or her, resulting in the ability to hold conversations with that person.

Holding sustained and intimate conversations (intercession) with the Lord can only be the result of breaking through into the Spirit realm.

Paul describes the Spirit realm as the third heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:2  I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

The first heaven is the area of our physical existence.

Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The second heaven is what Paul refers to as “spiritual wickedness in high places” This is the area of demonic activity. For us to get into a place of holding sustained and intimate conversations with the Lord we must break through the first heaven of our earthly circumstances, and the second heavens of demonic activity, into the third heaven of God’s glory.

Breaking forth into the Spirit realm takes physical time and labor in the Lord.

Spiritual labors are such things as speaking in tongues, worship, spiritual warfare, and waiting on the Lord.

Time is the most important factor in breaking into the third heaven.  We live in the Burger King culture of the fast food life.

One of the greatest attacks by the devil on believers living in Western societies is to tempt them into attempting the same fast food approach with the Lord.  God is not the God of the fast foods or shortcuts.

Breaking into the third heaven is founded on time and that time on many occasions takes hours a day with the Lord.

Intercession is the most important and the most difficult ministry in the world. There is nothing that the devil will attempt to hinder most than the time that the believer plans to spend in intercession.  We must understand what true intercession is.  Let us look at the following scriptures.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Helpeth our infirmities- The Greek tells us that the Holy Spirit comes face to face with us to take a hold together with us of our infirmities and frailties.

The Spirit itself maketh intercession for us – Greek: “To hit the target above and beyond what is normal.”   Or, to do the right thing and do it with skill.

The intercessory ministry of the Holy Spirit, as He comes to take a hold of our weaknesses, is to give us the breakthroughs, answers, and deliverances that we need with bull’s eye accuracy.

This, is called the sword of the Spirit at work, which is none else than the rhema word of God.

The rhema word of God is the Lord’s surgical weapon (or sword) as it is wielded during intercession to discover, isolate, and spiritually operates upon the specifics of an ungodly situation that has been brought before you by the Lord in prayer.

Eph 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the rhema word of God:

1Cor 2:10 But God hath revealed them (taking the lid off) unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth (sounds out like a sonar sounds out the deep things in the ocean. all things, yea, the deep things of God.

The rhema word of God reveals the things of God. It also sounds out, in the same way that a sonar on a ship sounds the bottom of the ocean floor, the deep things of God.

The Lord never deals with the symptoms of problems.  That is the work of the devil.

The evil one has the world riding on a merry go round of psychology, symptoms, syndromes, and disorders.  The Lord on the other hand always drives straight to the root of the problem.

It has been my experience that in most cases of serious diseases among Christians there is a spiritual, family, generational, or sin root associated with it.

The purpose of intercession is to sound out the depths of God so that He reveals and isolates the specific roots of the malady, and we destroy it in prayer with the same sword of the Spirit all while in the same time of intercession.  Intercession is the revelation of the ungodly roots of a problem. We pray back in accordance to the specifics of what the Lord shows us warrants the situation.  In all situations, and especially serious ones, the surgical work must be done in the Spirit and the results in the physical will always follow. The devil keeps us locked in the physical and psychological, and the roots continue to bear bad fruit.

True intercession is usually most successful through a human vessel that has gone through the cross so that the believer’s emotions and will have been healed and stilled and are now submitted to the voice of the Holy Spirit. A believer that has his or her soul life healed and stilled can hear the voice of the Spirit clearly.

Secondly, their state of quietness and submission is enough to allow the Lord to intercede through them. Deep intercession, many a time, is not the believer interceding, but the Lord interceding through the believer.  This believer is the clean vessel for the Lord to move within.

As we discussed earlier on, it is only when the Lord intercedes that He knows how to hit with perfect accuracy the bull’s eye of the roots of any problem that we bring before Him. He reveals it to us in the third heaven and we use this revelation as the sword of the Spirit to pierce, destroy, sever, and deliver.
